Hello! I'm looking to buy a few things these autumn so I thought I'd ask for your recommendations for where might be good to get each of the following...

  • Nightwear - I like this to be super soft and must be decent quality and wash well. Not primark! Prefer neutral colours
  • Dark brown flat brogues - need to have good soles for walking to/from work
  • Plain black leggings that don't go bobbly/saggy
  • Nice, thick-ish winter socks
  • Smart/casual winter skirts, at least knee length

I'm 30 and a size 10. Thanks for any ideas!

Oh and I forgot, I also need a new winter coat. Probably grey or navy. I can't decide whether to go for warm and toasty or waterproof, but probably the latter is more needed as I already have a red wool coat that I can still wear this winter!

Lovely nightwear at M&S or Cyberjammies at John Lewis

Excellent waterproof coats that are stylish from Protected Species. I've been wearing mine a week and very happy with it.

I love my new flat loafers from m&s (footglove so very comfy). They're patent black but I think they're available in brown leather and oxblood. They have lots of different ones. I've got loads of compliments since wearing them.

Topshop do good leggings that wash well (they did last year but might be out of fashion now?)

I like Boden for smart casual skirts but they can be pricey. I haven't looked at new season stock to see what they have this year though. Don't write off M&S - they do sometimes have some lovely items

Brown brogues at clarks but they have a heel:

These are my m&s loafers - not what you're looking for but they are comfy and they have loads of flat styles so I imagine you'll find what you want in there

Modal blend and other cotton composites used in nightwear are very soft and feel luxurious but affordable - if you want luxury the white company are good for nightwear (especially dressing gowns- mines going strong after 2 years)

Try the white company for nightwear.

I still think M nad S does great nightware. You have to look through a lot dross to find the 100 percent cotton - she says sitting here in her 100 percent cotton night shirt which she loves and her husband thinks is sexy.

Oooh thanks for all the tips. I had seen the Clarks hambleside brogues but I wasn't sure if they would be too stiff or if they would soften up with time? Also not sure if the soles look hardwearing enough for me (I walk about 4 miles per day).

I will look at the white company for nightwear, never thought of them!
