Thinning eyebrows in 40s

I've always had quite thick lovely looking eyebrows but since hitting my mid forties they are getting quite sparse and bald in places. What can I do?

Use an eyebrow pencil or crayon or one of the other many many eyebrow products available. Benefit do a nice range. I'd go to Boots and try different ones from different brands and see what works for you

You could of course also dye them or tattoo them. Totally depends on your brows, their colour and shape and your face and what will suit

I've had thinning eyebrows plus wiry greys for some years. Finally got round to getting them professionally waxed and dyed. Makes a huge difference.

However, I was told it can be a sign of under active thyroid. Which I also have.

Thanks for your answers. I've had blood tests cause I've got some of the symptoms of under active thyroid but keep coming back ok. Just frustrating they used to be Liz Taylor like and now they're practically gone.

Could you get a thyroid blood test done privately. The nhs threshold for thyroid problems is quite high compared to rest of the world.

It might not help if caused by thytoid, but on recommendation of MN thread, I've started putting castorbiil on my brows and lashes before sleep. Supposed to promote growth. Will update in 2-3 weeks.

If they're thinning in the outer third it is probably thyroid (so I've heard, anyway). My gran was diagnosed this way by a passing doctor in the hospital she volunteered in! I have underactive thyroid myself and my eyebrows are like this too.

I use a cheap brow palette and just fill them in a bit daily.

Hi, I'd recommend using a brow serum to encourage growth-I use Revitabrow (QVC) when funds allow or Rapidbrow (Boots/Superdrug) when they don't. Neither gives instant results, you have to persevere and use daily but they DO work long term. Benefit "gimme brow" is also great for cosmetic improvement and they do about 5 shades so you'll find one to match-it adds colour and also holds brows in place iyswim

Microblading, it's amazing! 😍

LesLavandes · 25/08/2017 11:12

What is microblading?

anniemac1984 · 25/08/2017 15:48

It's come basically very fine hair strokes semi permanently tattooed 🙌🏼👌🏼

I'm 46 , I've had thyroid disease for 4 years . I lost the outer third of my eyebrows and my brows and hair are much thinner.

I just draw mine in with a pencil.
