Talk to me about Botox, fillers and all that scary stuff

Just that really. I'm mid-40s with the crow's feet to match. But I work in London and see lots of women who have had obvious fillers/freezing (Botox) and it looks incredibly weird. Is it really possible to have subtle treatments and how do I find someone good to do it?

The best person for really subtle stuff is dr tracy mountford in wimpole st. her tag line is 'under done not over done'. Very down to earth, not cheap and she herself always had a long waiting list but she has a team who do all the stuff too.

I had some subtle cheek fillers a while back- they have worn off now- and was always happy except for the cost!

Don't know if anybody has noticed, but there are two bloggers based in the north west who have both had treatment in the last fortnight at the same clinic. They must have been "approached". " I won't wear sludge brown" and Fashion Mum of 40.
They seem pleased with their treatments, but I would be a little apprehensive.

I work in Aesthetics so can hopefully give you some advice. If its your crows feet that bother you then unless you have significant volume loss to the mid face or temples then Botox injections will help you. If you have the volume loss then you may need correction with fillers.

In very simple terms, Botox is used to relax the muscles that cause the face to move which cause the lines appear. By relaxing the muscles the lines cannot form. Fillers are used to replace lost volume caused by changes to the skeleton as we age and they also 'fill' the deeper lines that may have been caused from ageing and overworked muscles.

There are many practitioners out there that can help you.

Do you have friends or relatives that have been treated and could make a recommendation for you? Remember, always go to a practitioner who has a professional registration with the NMC, GMC and GDC as they are professionally accountable for their actions. There are some excellent nurses out there who are very skilled injectors so dont think that a doctor is necessarily the best.

If you have any questions, fire away.

And to add.....why not book 2 or 3 consultations with practitioners and see what you think?

A decent injector shouldnt leave you looking 'weird' but refreshed and renewed. 😊

Thanks Everyone Smile

I'm actually an HCP myself so not scared about the medical side, more about looking weird. Basically what I want is not to age any more till I'm 70, at which point, I'll morph overnight into Helen Mirren. Is that too much to ask? Wink
