Hair that's 'in'

I desperately need a new hairstyle. In fact every time I go to the hairdressers I ask for a new style and it always looks the same (may need to look at a new hairdressers perhaps!).

I have thick, frizzy, flyaway hair. It's currently shoulder length but I do prefer it a bit shorter. Does anybody have any ideas on hairstyles that are fashionable at the moment? I was thinking perhaps a bob that is shorter at the back and longer at the front, but not sure if that's a little dated now?

I ideally want something that's easy to maintain and I won't need to faff with in the mornings because I'm lazy. I have a side fringe that I will need to keep as I have a fairly large forehead. I have quite a long face with quite a 'manly' jaw line, unfortunately, so I'm never really sure what suits me. I wear glasses so I'm always conscious of my hair looking a bit geeky.

Any ideas please? Thanks :)

I currently have a slightly graduated long bob with long layers, balayage and a side fringe - very much the type of hairstyle that gets linked to on here a lot.

I've found the key to making it look current is in the styling. I also have fairly thick and flyaway hair, but the only thing that makes me look a bit groomed is effort, unfortunately! I do feel a lot more confident about myself on the days that I spend 20-30 mins styling my hair.

Yes to bangs-they are both "in" and flattering to rectangle face shapes. Wavy/curly bangs are fashionable at the moment (think Juno temple) , as are razored soft blunt bangs ...just keep them long and stay away from anything too harsh or dramatic.

Id get some layers starting around your cheekbones area

, and if you do a bob, keep it well below your chin like a "lob". If you choose to do the graduated bob withnit shorter in the back, just make sure it's not really sleek or straightened or "fussy" looking to steer clear of the soccer mom Kate gosselin effect. Having it super short will just be more work I think, my wash n go styles have only worked when my hair had length to "tame" it and weight it down a bit.

Lots of curls and texture with a deep side part is supposed to be very "fall 2017".
