Help with my work wardrobe

I am really struggling to find suitable clothes for work. I am a teaching assistant in a primary school so need clothes that look smart but that can also cope with the demands of the job. I need clothes that are not too expensive (get ruined sometimes doing art, caught on furnitiure, sitting on floor etc). I am not allowed to wear leggings or jeans which rules out the tunic/leggings/boots combo that would be ideal for the winter term. Nothing low cut, too short, see through. I also need to be able to run in the clothes/shoes just incase! I am a size 10-12 with a short body and long legs. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Uniqlo: bare with me here - their elastic waistband trousers are smart and cool with a loose fitting shirt.
Ankle length with flats or ankle boots

YY
Uniqlo uniqlo uniqlo

I love their leggings trousers which aren't too leggings-y - but might not be quite enough on the right side of not-leggings

Their smart style ankle length trousers have elasticated waists and are mega comfy

Their Supima cotton basic tops are fab

Their Merino wool sweaters / cardis are beautiful and great value for the quality - and wash like a dream

Their easy care silk touch blouses are non iron (or at least, not much iron, depending on how crisp you want them to be) - I have them in every colour

I bloody live in Uniqlo for work!

Uniiqlo t shirts are also very neat too and very cheap.
Quite narrow fit and last forever. If ironed they are certainly good enough for work

I have never bought from Uniqlo, will take a look. What is their sizing like? I'm a 12 in trousers in River Island but 10 in Next if that helps. I struggle to get ankle length trousers to look right with ankle boots, do you roll the trousers up?

Have you tried wife leged office trousers-they are easy to move around in and can be easily found in places like M&S, next etc. Just pair them with a smart shirt. Easy as pie.

Dina1234 What shoes would you wear with them? Would the hems drag in the rain when I'm on playground duty?

I had to size up massively in uniqlo - not sure if everyone else finds the same. I would usually be a medium in any other store but had to order an xl to get the fit I wanted

Ktown · 20/08/2017 12:47

For uniqlo: I am a size 10-12 and I wear small on top (am a c cup) for merino jumper or medium in t shirts, and small or medium on bottom (am size 8 bottom half usually)
You might have to take a risk as it does very a bit

I would wear 'old lady shoes' with a smaller heel but I just find those most comfortable. It doesn't matter that much because your shoes won't be visible, loafers or brouges would be just fine. provided that you get them hemmed/but then at the correct length you shouldn't have issues on the playground.
