Best Ever Concealer?

Hey!

Looking for the holy grail of concealers. I've got a budget of about £30 and it'll be worn with Estée Lauder Double Wear (for my wedding day, so need max coverage and 'stick on my face' ability)

I've tried the Nars one, wasn't overly impressed. I've been recommended the Tarte Shape Tape, but can only get that from QVC and would quite like to be able to try it on before I buy.

Any other amazing products I should be considering??

Bobbi Brown has a new one out, can't remember the name of it but it is advertised as being high coverage. It gets good reviews as do all Bobbi Brown concealers really, so maybe go to a counter and try a few?

Or you could just use the double wear concealer that matches your foundation?

CanThisWait · 20/08/2017 07:43

The double wear concealer doesn't have great reviews 😰

I will have a look at the Bobbi Brown counter, never had anything from there before, thank you!

Bare Minerals Bare Skin eye concealer. It's about £23

McSleepy · 20/08/2017 09:34

I wear the same foundation as you and use Bobbi Brown concealer - not the new one mentioned above but the cream compact. It's amazing. And even better when used with their hydrating eye cream - when I last bought the concealer I was given some samples of the eye cream and it's made a massive difference so I've bought the pot.

Mac prolong wear for blemishes
Mix it with some moisturiser to thin it out and blend a little and apply in layers
Clarins for undereye - moist and lasts ages and ages

bananafish81 · 20/08/2017 10:29

Love my Nars creamy concealer

I felt very smug when my Harley St dermatologist recommended it, and I was already using it Grin

Light enough for under eyes, decent enough for proper spots (I went to the dermatologist for acne)

Botanicbaby · 20/08/2017 10:47

Kat Von D concealer is fabulous.

N0tfinished · 20/08/2017 10:49

Tarte Shape Tape is worth it. Great coverage, looks smooth & doesn't look crepey under my eyes.

QVC isn't the best, limited stock & shades & they only sell with a crappy sponge at an inflated price. If you have any contacts in the US I'd have it posted over.

If you struggle to get your hands on it, MAC Pro Longwear is a very close second.

I used illamasqa under my ELDW at wedding. Lasted well and I sweated a LOT! (Dancing in heat)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/08/2017 11:08

Concealer for what,eyes or spots?

DoorsAndWater · 20/08/2017 11:14

Kevyn Aucoin sensual skin enhanced, it is AMAZINGSmile I'm on my third pot - does everything but I watch a few videos on how to use it for different things like sportscaster under eye and foundation

onlyconnect · 20/08/2017 11:18

I have an Estée Lauder one in a blue tube that's great. All the writing has rubbed off the tube so I don't know what it's called I'm afraid. It has a gold lid. I use it for covering spots. Don't know what it's like on anything else

gonegrey56 · 20/08/2017 11:46

There is a new(ish) concealer from Nars called Soft Matte Complete Concealer (comes in a little pot) which is outstanding, in my view. A denser pigment than the other concealer, Radiant Creamy Concealer. I rate both product, but the new one is better for more coverage. It blends really well, lasts on the skin, and does not "cake".

CanThisWait · 20/08/2017 12:39

It's for under eyes, because I've got permanent black sacks under them 😭

I know QVC is ridiculous, it's like £30 but only £19 on the Tarte website. Is the Mac really a close second? Never used Mac before!

I use Mac Pro longwear concealer with ELDW and they are a fab combo.

Ktown · 20/08/2017 12:44

Does anyone find nars creamy concealer too dry? I find it really powdery and drying and no one else I know does???

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/08/2017 12:45

If you want light reflecting then Revlon eye primer it's amazing, I'd happily pay 3x the tenner it costs.

CanThisWait · 20/08/2017 14:53

@Ktown that was my problem with it!
Just gone and tried the Mac on and they've given me a little tester pot!

I got an Estée Lauder double wear tester a few days ago, and today it looks horrendous! It's so cakey and drying, it's making my skin get real big dry patches. Might have to rethink the foundation as well now 😩

The clarins instant perfector in the squeeze tube might be better but it only has 3 colours for light skin tones
It is the best texture though
For the Mac you need to moisturise first but nothing will ever shift it. I only use it on redness around nose.

DarthMaiden · 20/08/2017 16:45

I also rate the clarins one.

I think it's great. I tried Nars but didn't rate it.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 20/08/2017 17:01

Banana, I think you and I have the same dermatologist!

For undereyes, I use aforementioned Nars (a million times better than Touch Eclat)

For actual spots, I use dermablend concealer.

gta · 20/08/2017 17:09

MAC pro long wear or urban decay naked skin

AppleBlossomTimeNow · 20/08/2017 17:17

Save your ££ - get Collection lasting perfection concealer from Boots or Superdrug for around £4 - it's fab. Easily as good as some top end ones that are either too waxy, chalky or greasy.

N0tfinished · 20/08/2017 17:18

Canthiswait I bought mine from QVC originally, the service was good but I REFUSE to get it there again. They really screw you with that sponge.

I checked Tarte.com or whatever it's called. They ship internationally but shipping was $15!

I think you'll like the MAC one. For a wedding day you want something long lasting, and the coverage is good.

I'm very dry under the eyes and I can wear it, as long as I'm careful not to powder too much.
