house and garden shoe that isn't a croc?

So we have tiled downstairs and need to wear a shoe/slipper. Do a lot of popping into the garden to the bins, have a brew, hang the washing out, etc.
I love the fact that crocs are cool to wear and easily washable but they look ugly as sin.
Most slippers are too warm and would look filthy too quick.
Flip flops are no good because I can't wear toe-post type shoes.
What do other people wear at home and can walk on a soggy lawn as well?

Have a look at the other types of crocs. I've got different styles such as the sienna flats

Lots more stylish and easy to pop in and off.

Birkenstocks?

Annebronte · 18/08/2017 16:31

Mahabi slippers are good (though pricey). They have rubber soles you can pop on or off.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 18/08/2017 16:31

I wear Rigger Boots for gardening and they're really comfortable and really cheap!

Annebronte · 18/08/2017 16:34

Forgot to add: Mahabi do a summer weight slipper that wouldn't be too hot.

Garliccalamari · 18/08/2017 16:43

My dutch dad uses old wooden clogs Grin

ChishandFips33 · 18/08/2017 16:46

Similar set up to you and I just tolerate the clog crocs in the back garden where no one sees me - they tick all but the style boxes

I live in fear of toddling off to work after forgetting to change out of them on a morning though!!

Flicketyflack · 18/08/2017 16:52

Shedshoes fab and funky designs like crocs but waterproof x

junglebookisthebest · 18/08/2017 17:23

Birkenstocks or that style I have found in the past look grubby after a while and don't clean up well...
Mahabis look nice but don't look like they'd be any use on a wet muddy lawn
Rigger boots don't really fit the need for house use as well ;-)
Clogs - now sounds interesting - might look more into this...
Chishand - this is the scenario which has led to me needing new shoes - I forgot and went to collect my daughter from nursery in them - was mortified. Do not want to do this when she is at school next year!
Shedshoes are too much like a croc although the designs are definitely fun!

Thankyou all - its looking like the non croc croc or a pair of clogs!

🙈oh no!

I also have the Croc Cleo which I have worn in public but mainly on holidays as they're so comfortable

I notice I have these on more as toes are draughty so no danger of going to work in them!

Seasalt sell these, like a Birkenstock made of plastic. In the sale too! https://www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/m/all-accessories/footwear2/sandalss1/eco-friendly-moses-slider-slip-on-sandalsstormmmoses.htm

Suzietwo · 18/08/2017 23:17

Halfinger

BorisTrumpsHair · 18/08/2017 23:45

Birkenstock do lightweight versions in croc material .

WhoseGonnaDriveUHomePorkPie · 18/08/2017 23:50

Sketchers go walks are like the most awesome slipper shoes ever!

bear28 · 18/08/2017 23:52

From personal experience I wouldn't recommend the slimline crocs. Only because your feet sweat (if you intend on wearing them barefoot) and it can get rather wet and uncomfortable. Not sure if my experience was because I wore them when i was in Singapore... the heat could have had an impact. That or I have very sweaty feet!

moralberyll · 19/08/2017 00:08

Get yourself some sliders.

moralberyll · 19/08/2017 00:10

This style but not necessarily the colour or design.

Are you wanting to have just one pair that you can wear in and out?

I have a pair of garden clogs I got from the garden centre by the back door and wear birkenstocks inside. You also get ankle height wellies which would be good for popping outside in the winter.

RustyBear · 19/08/2017 00:35

I have some like these for round the house & garden in winter, in summer I usually wear mule-style sandals, both are easy to slip on or off as needed.

Melfish · 19/08/2017 23:49

I remember these used to be quite fashionable in the 1990s but they may be a practical clog if that's what you're after.

dudsville · 20/08/2017 12:55

We have birkenstocks clogs for the garden (I have sandals for summer).

Oldraver · 20/08/2017 16:16

We have the gardening clogs at each door...some were from the garden centre, some from Aldi. One Aldi pair have a fluffy liner.

One of the pairs is quite big so I can just get my feet into them with my ballet slippers on
