starting my baby & mommy brand

Hello everyone!!!

New to mumsnet. I am starting my own brand, as soon as I find out I was pregnant, I decided to start a brand in that direction. I am working on my first collection but I want to redirect it or continue in that direction (depend on what you write, because all of you are potential future customers). I will be really brief with this sort of survey but I want you to answer in-depth so that I can figure out how to make my brand perfect for almost every single mom:

  1. What would you like to see in the market that is not already there (talking about clothes, accessories and toys)? What is missing in the market?
  2. What do you truly hate? For example I truly hate the fact that designers do not think that some zippers are uncomfortable for babies or tons of buttons are uncomfortable for parents (specially when they are like 9 months old)
  3. How likely would you buy extremely colorful designs (think about traditional mexican sort of vibrant colors and tons of colours)? (from 0 to 10, in which ZERO is ZERO likely and 10 is a "I WILL DEFINITELY BUY THAT" )
  4. How likely would you buy boho / whimsical clothing to your baby boy?
  5. How likely would you buy boho / whimsical clothing to your baby girl?
  6. Flowery stuff for boys?
  7. How likely would you like to dress alike with your baby?
  8. How likely would you buy vintage (talking about 40s and 50s) your baby boy?
  9. How likely would you buy vintage (talking about 40s and 50s) your baby girl?
10. If you could chose just 3 colors in which you would like to dress your baby boy his whole life, which ones would they be? 11. If you could chose just 3 colors in which you would like to dress your baby girl her whole life, which ones would they be? 12. Would you consider yourself loyal to any specific baby brands? If you do, please tell me your main 3. 13. How much would you be willing to pay for a baby suit that is almost 100% handmade, helps artisans (fairtrade and respects and supports traditions) and is almost 100% green (meaning that the brand recycles, is honest on the products they use and its whole designing and doing process)?

Thank you so much in advance!!! Flowers

Ana

I'm not sure there is any gap in such a saturated market but may be small scale opportunities such as on etsy

Agree with above poster. The market is saturated!!

However, there are some designers/creators locally to me who make to order and sell some beautiful things. But as a mother of 3, I wouldn't pay their prices e.g £20+ for handmade dungarees or leggings.

Perhaps try doing some local selling on fb or similar to gauge the market?

There's no gap at all. And, I agree with the pp. I have 3 children. I can appreciate hand made artisan clothes but I don't in any way have the budget for them.

I would love the type of things you seem to be suggesting. Especially colourful/less gendered boys clothes. But all the companies I know that make these are expensive. Sounds like you would be too. Price is the biggest factor I think about when buying kids clothes.
