Under eye bags

These are my main 'down point'. I wear minimal make up on a day to day basis.

Is there any affordable cream, mask, make-up, coverup anything really to make them look better. They are fairly dark and sunken and I look shattered. They age me and I'd quite like to improve them somehow.

Any suggestions?

This isn't a problem for me (I have plenty others though tbf op), but my best friend does and swears by - prepare yourself - haemorrhoid cream to tighten up the under eye area! I-shit-you-not. It works but only temporarily.

Will try and find a link.

KittyandTeal · 15/08/2017 18:09

Ooooo that definitely sounds like a cheapish option. They are also quite dark. Is there anything I can do (make up wise) to lighten them? I drink tonnes and have a very healthy lifestyle so it's not dehydration.

I have really dark circles and use this

Yeah I was going to suggest drinking more water, need to do that myself.

Not sure about the dark circles, probably only make-up can cover that. Some sort of highlighter maybe, over a heavy-duty concealer?

That's that link but really am just going on anecdotal evidence, hope it works for you.

KittyandTeal · 15/08/2017 18:16

Thanks. I was looking at the maybeline one.

I want to avoid too much of a heavy duty concealer as I don't generally wear foundation on a day to day basis. I can accept not fully disappearing them but maybe just make them a bit better

Thanks Wendy. I don't have puffy under eyes so much as sunken and dark. I look like I've not slept in months. You should be able to see it here

(Please don't put me if you know me!)

I've noticed a difference since I started wearing an eye mask at night. Cuts the light out properly and I seem to get a deeper sleep. I don't feel r look as tired in the morning.

AWendyAteMyFitbit · 15/08/2017 18:25

Ah ok Kitty, you definitely don't have 'bags' :) like my poor friend, but as I say, am no expert. Probably just a case of getting the right concealer, the right shade and consistency?

I don't wear foundation either but do put some concealer on most days, esp after lack of sleep (!)

These are eye-bags, before and after.

I've just bought a dark circle concealer from NYX in Boots and it's very good. I look very different! I don't wear foundation either and it doesn't look odd just wearing it on its own. It cost around £6, much cheaper than the touché eclat I had been using!

newbed · 15/08/2017 19:05

I hear great things about Tarte eye tape. I'm going to give it a go. I have your problem too. I currently use the Bare Minerals cover pen but it is irritating my eyes.

seefeld · 15/08/2017 20:07

The Ordinary's caffeine solution is great for de-puffing eye bags. Have a look also at peach colour corrector for the shadows to go beneath a normal concealer. I use a Smashbox colour corrector at the moment but have previously used Bobbi Brow and both have been great.

KittyandTeal · 15/08/2017 20:25

Handmaids thank you I might give that a go.

Newbed that sounds interesting.

I've just started using kiehls avocado eye cream. it's not cheap and I usually don't spend much on beauty things but my eyes are no longer puffy after using for a week. as for the dark circles and fine lines I guess I'll have to wait and see. it's got amazing reviews though.

Rojak · 17/08/2017 08:09

Following as I'm now considering fillers. Has anyone tried under eye fillers? I'd be interested in hearing experiences.

NigellasGuest · 17/08/2017 08:15

I find Benefit's Lemonaid good for concealing, and have just started to try the caffeine thingy from The Ordinary so will see how that goes.
I'm another one who's considered fillers - I think it's tear trough ones? Will probably not ever do it though!
I've also had those deep lines since teenage years - they look worse when I'm tired / haven't woken up properly, or stressed, and are of course worsening with age.
Fwiw Jean Shrimpton had them! I read that they only photographed her in the afternoons because they were less pronounced by then.

TizzyDongue · 17/08/2017 08:16

I've the same as you OP.

I've heard good things about the Mayballine concealer posted above - not tried it yet though.

I'm trying to lessen how much makeup I use - my skin's terrible so I use foundation daily but wondering if it's a catch 22 and it's wearing foundation that makes it bad!!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/08/2017 08:19

You need Revlon eye primer,it's great. Non cakey and really reflective ,you can never put too much on,amazing stuff.

falleninlove · 17/08/2017 10:00

Anusol. Trust me. Grin

You only need a tiny bit. It takes about half an hour before you see the difference. Then a little bit of concealer over the top.

NigellasGuest · 17/08/2017 12:06

beware hemorrhoid creams. They work on piles because they thin the skin, and you do NOT want that happening around the already thin eye area.

KittyandTeal · 17/08/2017 17:03

Thanks all. I've got a shopping trip planned so I'll check out all of those.

I think I'll avoid he hemorroid cream for now as the problem is more sunken/dark circles rather than puffiness. Thanks though
