Coloured Capri jeans - acceptable in town?

While I was on holiday in a naice seaside resort I did a scour of the local charity shops and bought two dirt cheap pairs of ankle skimming capri-style jeans that fit really nicely. V pleased because they were useful to wear on the beach and round town with walking sandals.

Now I'm back in the Smoke however, I'm feeling reluctant to venture out in banana yellow or electric green capris with Teva walking sandals - it's a great look for a sprightly septuagenarian American tourist, but I am none of those things.

However, well fitting trousers are not easy to come by. So, should I dye them? Denim blue? Black? Something else such as dark red?

And what shoes to wear with them (not helped by a moderate case of sodding plantar fasciitis which means that thin soled sandals are out of the question).

Yes, as long as they are the only colour IYSWIM.

So team them plain (or nearly plain/very restrained pattern) tops in a colour like navy, plus navy loafers (if they offer enough support) or a converse-type plimsoll.

If you decide to dye them, you could turn the electric green ones into dark green (or maybe khaki). Not sure what to do with lurid yellow as base colour - a brown/burgundy?

And you can dye just about anything black.

Wear what makes you happy and fuck everyone else.

Just wear them. I live in London and think the hordes of commuters streaming off trains and tubes all dressed in grey/navy/black looks like an attack of rather dull zombies. You will brighten things up and for thicker soles shoes try flip-flops. Sparkly ones!

I have some Tamaris pumps for sightseeing with chunky, cushioned soles. Very comfortable.

The problem with the green is that it's one of those random M&S colours which nobody else ever did. It's not unpleasant but I can't get my head round it as clothing. The yellow is a bright pastel if that makes sense so I'm happier with that, although I have a load of electric blue tops and need to retrain myself from looking like a Swedish flag/IKEA store.
