I'm going on holiday with my family to Longleat and I have no idea what to take as these sorts of holidays aren't usually my thing. I need to pack light as well as the DC and I are going by train too.

Am off shopping over the next few days to try and get it all sorted, I'm a 12-16 (bottom half larger) and 5'11 if that makes a difference? Have a v small budget too. Smile

You don't need anything special, are you planning to cycle? If so dresses probably aren't too practical. If planning physical activities/ sports then appropriate clothing and trainers but otherwise any old clothes are fine! Something waterproof for if it rains too. Longlead is very hilly so even if not cycling fairly practical shoes will be better than heels etc.

My family are planning on cycling but my DC don't cycle as much as I have tried to get them on bikes so I'm not sure? I usually am in dresses/skirts and pumps so will buy some trousers, I have a Mac and some wellies somewhere so that should be okay for the footwear side of things, or would trainers be better?

I wired jersey dresses with leggings or jeans and t-shirts/jumpers.

I would advise some comfy trainers (my flat shoes gave me blisters!) and a waterproof coat/jacket.

You shouldn't need to buy anything new! Just normal clothes for being with your kids.

Don't forget swimsuits - can't remember if you need your own towels?

PinkSquash · 16/08/2017 10:25

Ooh swimsuits- I need to get myself another one so that I'm not constantly trying to dry it out between sessions. Was planning on bringing spare towels for swimming as most places don't ever provide enough.

Thanks!!

Went to Elveden a few weeks ago with family. Lived in comfy exercise stuff most the time but waterproof jacket with a hood is a must! I wore my trainers in the day and took a pair of more dressy pump type shoes for when we went out for a family meal. Everyone around us looked quite casually dressed too.
You can hire towels from the pool if that helps with your packing and they have a spin drier for your costume (20p) so it's dry enough for the next time.
Have a fantastic time Smile
