Bras

Hello Ladies!

I am on the hunt for a new bra or two. I have always previously worn Avero by Marie Jo as I loved the design and fit was awesome. I am usually a 32D although some brands a 32E.

Last Avero bra I tried on I spilled out of the top. So sent back. Was recommended to get 30E.

My bust is wide set, full at the bottom but shall we say deflated a little at the top?

Often when trying on full cup bras (which M&S say I need) the full cup is 'loose and airy' at the top edge.

Can anyone recommend a bra style? preferably with light padding or moulded but not memory as once washed they go weird! I have feed 2 babies and my nipples are very pointy looks like I am cold all the time...... Not a fan of showing them.

Sorry for long rant. Smile

I'm on the hunt for a decent bra too and still trying to figure out my correct size after 2dc. Mine sound a similar shape to yours and balcony bras tend to fit the best. The full cup ones are leaving me with a big gape at the top which looks hideous and unflattering under clothes.

StorminaBcup · 14/08/2017 19:29

Also, I've done the bra intervention thing and I'm coming up a 30E but they're not quite right so I'm going to try on a 32DD when I next get a bit of time to go. Perhaps try a few different sizes too?

ohh · 14/08/2017 21:40

StorminaBcup hello. Yep we are the same. I had a really nice (or so i thought) balcony bra that fitted when I first sweeped and scooped for about 2 hours then bus seems to settle a bit more, not go anywhere as its underwired, just flatter. then again a ridge under clothes! Grin

Oh no - don't tell me that! I've just ordered 3 online. I'm sick of trying on bras. Sloggy crop top it is Grin

ohh · 15/08/2017 09:20

I've just been recommended to try more of a plunge push up. I normally like expensive French bras but as I'm after the holy frail t shirt bra in nude it's M &S ; also have a £10 voucher; So off to try on today. Will let you know

Interesting - I've avoided that style as I thought it would be hugely unflattering. M&S are great for T-shirt bras! Hope you have found the one!

curcur · 15/08/2017 21:05

Go for a half cup balcony bra. I have the same problems. The Freya patsy is a good one...slightly padded.

Oly5 · 15/08/2017 21:08

Can I hijack this slightly and ask where you all go to get fitted? I want somewhere ultra experienced and reliable

LoniceraJaponica · 15/08/2017 21:10

Not M and S

curcur · 15/08/2017 21:14

Definitely not fitted in M&s. House of fraser and john lewis are good. If you find a brand and style you like, the bras can be found a lot cheaper online.

Try the Freya Mode in nude, balcony half cup...bought this year and perfect for white tops.

StorminaBcup · 15/08/2017 21:21

Oly5 - I've measured myself at home using this website link. I got really fed up being told I was a 34 b and not having any bras fit me at all. Bravissimo are meant to be great. They are my next stop if the next batch of bras don't fit!

ohh · 16/08/2017 08:06

Hello ladies. I spent 1 hour yes 1 hour in M &S trying on all nude bras. Shocking results. I'm definitely a 32 DD or 32 E in some makes. Although don't look it. A lot of the bras I tried on where too narrow in the back; not a 32! The next size up 34 too big. The best 'fit'was a unpadded light as sir which made me look flat chested after 10 jiggles. I usually go to independent boutique lingerie shops
I have 2 near me of the same company. If your near Wiltshire they are called Mystique Lingerie. They have a website. But better to go in. You can tell them your desired look and they will find a bra to fit.

Ah this is perfect timing! I was about to start a post about this. Please can anyone help me....
I'm 35 and had 2 babies. Still feeding he youngest but only at night and hopefully not for much longer. But I'm still wearing feeding bras as I've not been shopping for ever.

Feeling very saggy, flat, deflated and in deed of support (boobs but also me in general I think!). Where should I get measured and any other advice??

SorrelForbes · 16/08/2017 08:24

OP - have you measured following the guide here? It's probably more likely that you need to go up in the cup and NOT the band. Stay away from M&S. Their fitting is awful and their quality control/sizing is often poor. Take yourself off to Bravissimo.

Moulded t-shirt bras are very hard to get a good fit with as they don't mould to your shape IYSWIM? Try a lightly padded half cup (e.g. Panache Petra) or an unpadded nude style like the Cleo Marcie or the Cleo Juna.

BusterGonad · 16/08/2017 08:30

I have this bra by Playtex, I'm a 34F to FF with no fullness at the top of my boobs. This bra lifts them and gives you a great cleavage. It's lightly padded so no nipples on show. It come in various colours too.

BusterGonad · 16/08/2017 08:31

Sorry picture!

ohh · 16/08/2017 15:19

Hello again. Buster that picture shows you cannot just go by the look of bras!

Hatethinkingofusernames82 yes do get measured but not at M&S. My mother (God rest her soul) was a qualified corsetiere and could just look at a woman and get size 99% right. I think I have inherited it!

Daughter went with me to M&S for second bra as their Angel range was bought for her by someone else and she liked it. I looked at her in bra and said I think you need a 30 C or 32 C. Previous first bra 30A.

M&S measured/looked at her and said a 34 B rubbish I said and stormed out. Took her to my expensive boutique I use birthdays and Christmas 'thank you lovely husband' Grin they recommended Royce non wired. Decent price too so can prove they don't all charge an arm and leg. £24.99 for 2 pack.

Try a boutique lingerie place if one near you (I travel 30 mins to mine) you do not have to buy a bra there.

Today I'm wearing my trusty old 4 years Marie Jo Avero plunge in black 32D on tightest setting. Plunge under a round neck. Looks ok as its quite a fitted top. Unless we get a strong wind! Might have to just pay £70 and get the padded balcony in Cafe Latte. That is their nude.

Will look at Freya and Panache first. Thanks Flowers

Sorrelforbes This is what I do! I was taught by an independent lingerie shop miles away form where I live now. I was wearing a 36B they fitted a 30 E or 32 D after 2 children. Shock

I had back fat I thought which they told me was migrated breast tissue (at 39!!!!) due to feeding and exercise etc. Had to scoop tightly every day for about a year and wear proper bra. Now its back to where it is meant to be!

BusterGonad · 16/08/2017 16:17

Before buying my Playtex I was wearing a 38D! It was shit, now I'm happy and I look slimmer too as it fits well! M&S are the worst measurers ever!

StorminaBcup · 17/08/2017 20:15

You were right ohh balconettes are no good either. Funnily enough I ordered the one in the picture (which isn't too dissimilar to the one BusterGonad posted), and it's the only one out of about 20 that fits.

StorminaBcup · 17/08/2017 20:16

Would help if I actually attached photo!
