Will my wrinkles go away when I gain weight? Please say yes!

I'm sure they won't but asking as I'd love to be told otherwise.

I'm a couple of months away from turning 29 and have recently developed lots of fine lines, mostly around my eyes, but in other places too. I drink plenty of water and use spf 50 on my face in the sun and a lower spf on less sunny days (which is most days - I'm in the north!)

For the last six months I have been quite unwell and lost over two and a half stone in weight. My face looks very drawn and I think this has contributed to the wrinkles. I am trying to get myself back to a healthy weight but it is very slow progress.

I've been ill for so long and now looking like I've aged dramatically as well, is really getting me down. If weight gain doesn't fix this, are there any magic products that will? This has happened so quickly and I'm sure being ill/losing lots of weight has accelerated it. I want to feel like me again :-(

Sorry this was a much longer (and self pitying) post than I planned.

being a healthy weight and nourished properly will fill your face out and help a lot I think

genetically how do your lines compare to your parents , I think a lot of the way we age is genetic
-speaking as a smooth faced old fat bitch Wink

Hehe thanks for replying ggirl.

I'm not sure about my dad, didn't see much of him after my parents split but my mum always said he used to look young for his age when he was younger. My mum has started to look older but she is 58 now. I think her skin is in pretty good condition for her age.

While fine wrinkles are a normal part of aging, given your age and health, I'm sure your face will start to look a lot better as you recover. No one looks good when they've been unwell for a long time. My unscientific advice would be rest, fresh air, lots of water, good quality food with lots of antioxidants, good fats, a moisturiser and spf. Be kind to yourself and hope you feel a lot better soon.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. Losing 2.5 stone in a short amount of time, especially if you were slim enough to begin with, will no doubt have (temporarily) aged you. Are you regaining your appetite now? You could try incorporating foods with lots of good fats, like avocado on toast, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs made with cream, and nuts into your diet. All foods that are great for the skin.

And you don’t sound self-pitying at all!

When there is dramatic weight loss it can age you at first and also illness can sometimes not give us a true image of ourselves. It also depends on the illness ( I am not prying) but it also sounds like recovery is in progress. Give it time as PP post said you need to nourish from within. There are no magic potions to slap on to fill out lines. Take some omega 3 oils vit c and some b vitamins. A good diet is essential and in time you will look and feel loads better. Be well.

Thanks everyone. I have been trying to eat more but I don't think I'm having enough yet. Still trying to build up my appetite. I'm trying to make sure what I do eat is high in fat and protein. I never realised it would be this hard to gain weight. I've never been on a diet of any kind before, guess I've been quite lucky. I've always been a slim but healthy weight up until now.

I was asked to send in a recent photo of myself for an event I have coming up in a few months and that's what set me off tbh! I realised a few weeks ago that my clothes were all starting to hang off me and I have no curves except where my bones stick out! But back then wasn't really feeling well enough to care and hadn't properly looked at my face until now.

Thank you those who said this should be temporary. I do hope so. If not I will start investigating botox get over it.
