Effective suncream in light foundation?

MrsTiggywinkles · 13/08/2017 09:11

Does anyone have any recommendations for protection on a Sun holiday?

Last year I used Heliocare gel under my normal (very heavy) EL double wear foundation.

This year I would really like to lighten my foundation so am thinking that a really effective SPF tinted moisturiser might do the job?

Anyone have any recommendations?

Ultrasun do a tinted face spf

None. Check out what the dermatologists say.

Proper suncream does not come in ickle pots. Use real sport sunscreen.

Just mixed your SPF 50:50 with some el doublewear and you are good to go.
Stick a hat on and avoid midday sun.
SPF is the devil for giving people a false sense of security in the sun. People on the s and b boards are way too obsessed with it as a product.
It is ok but needs reapplying and isn't particularly good for your skin.

Wear a hat as well, that's the best way to protect your face and hair

Just put a factor 50 sun block on before your foundation / tinted moisturiser. I do this every day. La Roche Posay is good.

Shiseido do a range of foundation with spf30. Powder, liquid or stick. It's all beautiful!

Thanks all. Really useful ideas. Good point about suncream and separate make up.

I've been using this Boots No.7 one this summer and it's worked well- Boots has a really good range of BB creams with SPF on offer online at the moment.

I watched something on This Morning a few months ago that in order to get the spf protection that foundations/tinted moisturisers claim you would have to use around a tablespoon on your face.

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 13/08/2017 16:25

Biore Watery Essence spf 50. It's a light lotion, and it doesn't sit on your face and look like you've applied lard like most facial sunscreens.

As pp has said, no foundation will ever have the necessary SPF (even if they flaunt high SPF levels in their product, the simple way we apply foundation as opposed to how we would apply sun cream means your face won't be as protected)

Rumpoleonthebaileys · 13/08/2017 17:41

Erborian CC cream has decent SPF and impressive coverage (space nk). I really like it.

Delatron · 13/08/2017 20:09

It doesn't matter if the foundation has a decent spf, you'd never use enough to get that protection.
I use la Roche posey factor 50. Then the eborian CC cream over the top for a bit of coverage but don't rely on it for sun protection

You'll also need to reapply so that will wipe off any foundation. Though there are new face mists with spfs that go over make up.

SlurplePurple · 13/08/2017 20:23

I'm very pale (natural redhead) and burn easily but when I use the Avon cc cream I never burn even if I sit in the sun for an hour (which I don't very often).
It's a bargain at around £6 and doesn't leave me greasy or caked in make up.

Delatron · 13/08/2017 20:56

Cc creams also don't have the uva protection that advanced sunscreens have. I wouldn't dream of sitting out in the sun with just one on. Neither would a dermatologist
