Balayage on straight hair

Anyone had balayage done when their hair is very straight?

All photo examples of balayage seem to show wavy hair, which looks great but i can't do this to save my life and my hair is straight straight straight...
I'm worried may look too stripey?

I've had it, but asked for it to look subtle. It does- a work colleague thought I'd been away abroad- no just Devon I said! Just don't go too high or too light is what I'd say- my hair is wet from a shower but I'll try and get you a photo tomorrow

Thank you shadow, I'm hoping it may give my hair more depth/movement (if that's the right hairdresser lingo) and make it look less straight boring

I have had lowlights underneath before but you could only tell when hair was tied up. Have tried so many curling appliances now but hair drops within a couple of hours, think i just have to accept and embrace my straight hair Sad

My hair is straight

I only ever wear it straight..

I dunno if this is a good look or not tbh; I do like it brighter for summer. But I am finding myself reminiscing on my natural, very dark hair

Either way..ask for OLAPLEX when lightening - it's a hair/lifesaver for sure

This is it now - lightened further last week; but for the last time for sure..

It's veeeery low maintenance though..that's a big plus

And I do own more than one type of top Blush

Balayage done properly by someone who knows what they're doing shouldn't look stripy, whatever your hair is like. It should give shape and body to straight hair. Balayage is the technique (using a big brush and all done by hand, no foils) so the look depends on the skill of the hairdresser.

Paper my hairdresser backcombs my hair a bit. Which I hate, it completely freaks me out. Irrational.....it's like a nails down a blackboard experience for me

Toestonose · 10/08/2017 23:09

Thank you both for your advice, i guess I'll never know until i try it...shape and body definitely sounds like what i am after though!

Not gonna go as light as that as I'm fair skinned and brunette...low maintenance sounds good too!

I actually preferred mine when it was more gingery rather than how light it is now..but it's blended quite well

Just make sure you Olaplex it, otherwise it'll break off at the ends

I only ever used to wear my hair straight until I started having it balayaged, I learned how to curl it with normal tongs because the waves/curls do show off the balayage effect. Even if if I muck it up or just use mousse or salt spray then let it air dry, it looks good though.
Definitely recommend the Olaplex.
