Lighten dyed hair at home?

Dyed my hair earlier with an auburn colour home dye, it's way too dark, makes my skin look so pale. Is there a way to remedy it without making my hair fall out/turn green?
I'm thinking if I put a light brown on it just won't do anything...

I dyed my hair too dark a brown last year and it looked awful on me. I did the effervescent vitamin c tablet removal trick (google it for the method) and it worked really well. One application pretty much removed all of the dye. I did 2 applications and it also left my hair in really nice condition.

I then used strong shampoo like head a shoulders and t gel for a few weeks after as they wash colour from hair gradually.

YY to over-dye with a lighter colour probably won't work.

I went lighter in stages (home dye and short hair) my hair is naturally quite dark. It took a while but eventually I was using a 10.0 shade and doing highlights.

It took its toll on my hair unfortunately (didn't fall out or go green though)

You'd need to adjust your make-up with a new colour - would that make a difference?
Live with it a couple of days till it's not such a "Whoah" when you see a mirror (though I dyed my hair an unflattering hakin' Stevens black a few years ago and ended up having it cut really short)

Colour B4 if you can't stand the colour.

I also use the vitamin c crushed tablets in head and shoulders like Casualobserver

It's amazing, really really works

YY to the vitamin c & Shampoo mix to remove hair dye - I've done this several times, just done it this morning in fact after mistakiningly dying my hair a dark plum colour which came out black! Hair is back to a lighter brown & has even revealved some highlights just ever so slightly that I had done a couple of years ago!

Couldn't find vit c tablets in Asda so took a risk and bought colour b4. It worked brilliantly, I was a bit concerned I'd end up with bright orange hair or something but it literally just stripped the dye from my hair and it's back to its normal colour now. The stuff stunk like rotten eggs and took an hour to work but was definitely worth the tenner I paid to stop looking like morticia Adams!

Chat- colour B4 is great, however, the last time I used it, I found it re-oxidised, meaning my hair literally turned dark again over 48 hours, so I had two options, to apply another pack, or do the Vitamin C mix (which is what I did, which worked & returned my hair back to light again) if you find your hair does start going dark again, just do one or the other, but whatever you do, DON'T apply another permanent colour for at least another 4 weeks, it will turn your hair dark!

As for the smell of colour b4 it can tend to linger a bit, I find the Aussie stuff good for eliminating that!
