This pale face thing

First noticed it at a family wedding a couple of years ago where, in a photo line up of lovely ladies, one was so pale she almost glowed transparent, like geisha girl skin. Since then I've seen a few - they stick out like vampires (think Twighlight). I was wondering if it was some trowelling on of various foundations or what! It doesn't look deliberate like a goth and in fake light looks normal, it's just when they step into natural light. Some even look pale green.

Lack of tan, spf in foundation and contouring.

Contouring includes highlighter that reflects light.

It looks like it will crack! It reminds me of those creepy china/wax faced dolls that used to come to life in 1970s horror films to gouge out your eyes with boot button hooks.

The makeup that looks good on Instagram can look overly theatrical in real life. I was watching a TV programme last night made in the 1990s and all the teenagers on it look so fresh faced and unpolished compared to the ultra contoured, fake lashed teens you see today.

I don't mean just naturally pale. I'm Scottish, my default colour is blue but it's the makeup they use. I was at a festival last week, there were lots of highly made up individuals with contouring etc, but 1 in every 20 had this theatrical ott thing going on. I remember back in the 80s there was a foundation that had hint of green to help tone down skin tones that were reddish - it's like they've overused that to get this strange fake look. It's more than just too much make up, it's like they've used something that reacts badly on their skin

And I don't think they are doing it on purpose. It's like they've trowelled it on in artificial light with no idea what they look like in natural light

I wear double wear or double wear light and always look like this in photos. I'm currently trying out new foundations so hopefully it's a thing of the past!
