I need serious help.
I'm early-mid twenties and live in t shirts, jeans and Toms.
I really want to start dressing a bit more feminine and generally better put together but I don't know where to start!
I don't like generic "fashion" so can never find anything in the usual new look/topshop/river island etc.
I don't mind spending a bit of money but nothing extortionate (I.e. I won't pay more than £50 for a top).
I'm 5'9" and a size 8.
Thanks!

Hi :-)
I usually do those body shape / personality quizzes , pick what I like then go to E-bay or even everything £5 !!! I'll spend abit more on a staple piece or a nice coat and boots but I usually find if I add simple jewellery and blow dried hair, it helps Xx

Oasis is alright these days I quite like their gear. When I was younger I bought from American apparel too. I also like surfdome - lots of brands and surf gear doesn't date.

Zara and asos have stuff that are more feminine and put together. You just have to ignore current fashion like too much ruffles and ugly cold shoulder tops. Also ignore anything with polyester. But I believe you can find a lot there. I also love hush, but they are overpriced. My advice would be to try on things that you would never go for in the past. You will be pleasantly surprised with how flattering some of them can be.

I had the same aim - more feminine and put together - and ended up with a staple wardrobe of two good, tailored blazers (Zara), flattering dark denim jeans (shop around, depends on your shape), scoop neck tops to show off my great cleavage modest and Chelsea boots. I don't think we're exactly the same shape - I'm 5'8 and a size 10/12, but hopefully it'll still help you.

I love Joanie Clothing after someone on MN recommended it to me. Some lovely things and a bit different!

Thanks for all your comments! I'll try Zara and a few of the other suggestions. I don't mind ASOS and the likes but I cannot bear to sit trawling through 1000's of clothing items to find one I like Sad
