Considering purchasing a couple of pairs of basic glasses for distance from them, has anyone purchased from them before and how have they found them? I'm choosing pairs that aren't too dissimilar to what I am wearing now so i'm guessing they wont be too much of a shock or too uncomfortable, iukwim!

I've just done the free home trial. I'm really glad I did because the ones I was going to order were far too small and the ones I was a bit "meh" about were great. Definitely try before you buy.

Yes, several times - you can do a "home trial" where they send you pairs to try on at home, or at least you could. Depending on how bad your eyes are you may want to upgrade the basic package - I'm about -5 in each eye and paid more to have the lenses on the main pair thinned, and it was quite a big difference from the free, untreated pair. My only reservation would be that they can't adjust the frames for you, obviously - my last pair ended up being quite wide at the legs after a few months, and while my own optician did adjust them, they were nervous because they were plastic and could snap, so they kept slipping down my nose. I wear lenses mainly so mine are just for at home/emergencies, so it didn't bother me too much.

DH did the home trial using them and he got a really nice couple of pairs for a great price. He'd definitely recommend.

Yes, several times. Really good service, the home trial gives you time to decide which pair your want, and after sales care is really good (I broke the screw in one arm and they replaced them for free even though the glasses were old).

I just ordered 2 pairs for £17. They are doing 2 pairs for £49/buyonegetonefree and then there is a £32 discount code with delivery.

Even if they are crap £17 for 2 pairs isnt bad.

That deal ends on sunday btw i believe

Try www.eyebuydirect.com

I've had loads of compliments on mine, and only £30 ish with thinner lenses x

Skinandbones · 05/08/2017 22:24

I loose my reading glasses alot, so I order 2 or 3 pairs at once, one lens is like the bottom of a milk bottle, never ever had a problem with them or goggles4u.

MelbourneClown03 · 05/08/2017 22:25

Yes, yes! I had about a gazillion pairs off of them on free trial before deciding on a pair. They didn't mind my indecisiveness and gladly sent out pair after pair for me to trail. Great customer service over the phone.
I have -8 in one eye and -7.5 in the other. They don't make lenses for blind bats like me but were very helpful in suggesting how I could purchase the frames from them (and sorted me out another discount as I wasn't purchasing the lenses from them) and get my lenses from the optician. Boots had quoted me north of £300 for frames I liked + ultra thin lenses. If I remember correctly, frames from GD + ultra thin lenses purchased from Boots cost me just over £100.

I got the online glasses co to email me the price for just the frames and Boots matched it - that way Boots were fitting to a frame they supplied which meant they were responsible for fitting, sizing and also replacing if any breakage/faults. Saved over £200. (still spent c£500 though, being blind, astigmatism, varifocals...)

Thanks for the replies!

Newdad19, I got that deal, so didn't have time to trial the 'home trial' - so just ordered two pairs, like you said two pairs of glasses for £17, if they're not great, 17 squid you can't complain!
