Wrap or shirt dress for slender 19 yr old - recommendations?

Hello! My DD is 19 and working in an office in London- she is trying to establish a working wardrobe. I've suggested trying wrap dresses or shirt dresses - do you think these are suitable? She's quite fashionable and doesn't want to look frumpy but IMO she's so slim and attractive nothing would look frumpy on her!
Where would you suggest shopping for this type of thing, or do you have any other suggestions for dresses? Maybe I should just look for something I'd wear myself, and size down several sizes
NB it's not a terribly formal company like a law firm or something - quite young and trendy but not a creative industry as such.
Her birthday is coming up and I'd like to treat her!

I think wrap dresses aren't great for young women - I tried a topshop one a few weeks ago and it just looked really frumpy. Shirt dresses are cute, I've got a couple of really smart ones. I'd try the workwear section on asos for starters. Pencil skirts/dresses are lovely on slim people.

I'm slim and have always gone for a pencil skirt or pencil dress, H&M have some really nice ones. They can be dressed down or up depending on what top you put with it.

I have one like this:
m.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/navy-cotton-poplin-shirt-dress-6597954?geoip=noredirect&cmpid=ppc_pla_UK_ip&utm_medium=cpc&istCompanyId=e0b51aa7-96c9-4550-a6f3-56b61a0b5995&istItemId=xlxrxaamxa&istBid=tztx&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3unZgOK_1QIV7rftCh3bzwdSEAQYASABEgKm0_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

And often get complimented, but I have to admit I'm not 19 and gorgeous so it might be a bit old for her?

The younger ones in my office seem to favour the fitted shift dresses more.

That's lovely pointe. I can see why you get complimented in it.

That Dorothy Perkins dress is lovely!
Ok so wrap dresses are out.
What is a fitted shirt dress - one with a belt?

@pointe - lovely dress. Is it true to size? I am rather busy and often find shirts don't close over my baps. Hmm

JemandScout · 05/08/2017 14:01

I meant busty not busy. Blardy phone Grin

NigellasGuest · 05/08/2017 14:01

Sorry just re-read - fitted shirt dress not shirt.
Can anyone link to a suitable shirt dress though? I know DD has mentioned she would like one bit I don't want to get too old a style

This might be hideously frumpy for a 19 year old but I saw it in store and it hangs beautifully.

PointeShoesAndTutus · 05/08/2017 14:21

@jemandscout, it's true to size on me but I'm not particularly busty - may need to go up for boobs if between sizes.

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 05/08/2017 14:31

Young colleague of mine gets a lot of dresses from Joy - they have all sorts
day dresses

Gap's dresses are also worth a look for casual workwear if you don't mind showing a bit of leg - but never ever pay full price, always look online for a 30-40% off code.

silkpyjamasallday · 05/08/2017 16:41

I wouldn't discount wrap dresses, I'm 22 and wear them all the time, I don't think they look frumpy if you are young and slim! Admittedly I wear them for ease of breastfeeding rather than for work but I don't see why they wouldn't be suitable. Topshop and H&M have lots of this style at the moment so have a look

NigellasGuest · 05/08/2017 18:37

Thank you silkpyjamas! That's good to hear from the (young) horse's mouth so to speak. I will also look at Gap as suggested by Winifred.

Thank you! I've bought the Dorothy Perkins one and a couple from BooHoo which are really cheap and can always go back if she hates them or if they look that cheap.
