What can I do about my dodgy eyelids? Pic!

They're getting worse and more noticeably different with age. When I was younger it was quite subtle but the difference is quite noticeable now.

Surgery? Botox? Fillers? There must be something?

Have you been to your GP about it? DM had botox on the NHS because one eyelid was very droopy but you are much younger than her.

Hi Op
It looks like you have ptosis of the left eyelid, I also have it, also getying worse with age and if I am very tired if have had a drink!
Sadly the only corrective option is surgery where they tighten muscle in the eyelid. Its unlikey to be available on the NHS unless your eyesight is affected.
I will be getting mine fixed as I Am increasingly self conscious, its going to cost around 2.5 K and is being done by a private consultant opthslmic surgeon. It shouldnt be done by just a 'general' plastic surgeon as its needs someone with ful specialism in the anatomy of the eye. X

I've got that as well. Funnily enough I was convinced it was the unaffected eye which had started to bulge, rather than it being down to the other one drooping. Duh. It was so bad in a photo I went to the GP in a bit of a panic. He reassured me but said nothing could be done on the NHS unless the vision in the droopy eye became affected. A MUA at the Bobbi Brown counter was actually very helpful and showed me how to do my eye make up differently in the droopy eye to make it less noticeable.

Surgery I would think

TwoBusyCnuts · 04/08/2017 21:21

Only surgery will fix it.

bellaandby · 04/08/2017 21:31

It's got a name?! Shock

2.5k isn't horrendous but still an awful lot, my vision isn't affected but I can see my eyelashes in that eye all the time, it's really annoying.

This might be a stupid question but which one is the dodgy one? Blush

Which one is "correct"? The one where I can't see much eyelid or the one where I can? They've always been like this so I'm not sure which one is the dodgy one!

Euphemia, mine is like that if I'm tired too!

Yes, I don't bother with powder or liner at all

I've got a Ptosis, I've had it most of my life, it was first noticeable since 3, my parents took me along to various GP/hospital appointments, but it wasn't rectified, due to a number of reasons (success rate, didn't want the bullies to win (it was mentioned quite a lot at school and there was also a lad who was picked on for having sticky out ears and had them pinned back but the name calling didn't stop ... I digress). But last March at the age of 36, I pulled on my big girl pants and had the op, I had it done on the NHS, as it was affecting my eye sight, as you can see in the photo my eyelid was pretty much closed, it was performed under local anesthesia and it was a very strange sensation, and I was in and out within 5 hrs. The after shot was taken last week, this is a 'good day' photo, so it's open quite wide, I'm also pulling a cheesy expression so have wider eyes, but like a poster mentioned up thread, it is lower when I'm tired or drink, also personally I feel that it has dropped slightly since having the op. If you are concerned, there is no harm in popping along to the GP and asking about it.

And for a left/right comparison, here are both eyes

Irun, thanks for that!

I've been googling and I don't think I meet the requirements to have it done on the NHS. It only really affects my vision because I can see my eyelashes particularly when I'm in the sun for some reason? And I feel myself pulling it up quite a bit with my fingers.

I'm glad you're happy with yours though!

My Dd has a slightly droopy eye. It is noticeable when she is tired. Do you think I should ask the questions before she becomes an adult. Does it affect vision badly?
