I just bought this - a brand new White Company white linen skirt. I was so excited I had to share. What are your best charity shop bargains mumsnetters?

A £3 bridesmaid dress which I cut up and made into an Elsa dress for my 3 year old. I buy charity shop stuff to cut up and make into new things as there are never ever nice things in my size in my charity shops.

Our local barnardos seems to price everything at £1.99 or less, so I always make sure I to have a quick look when I go past. My fave finds at this price are:

Not sure of the brand but lovely soft leather rucksack that I now use instead of a changing bag. Good for travel too.
ASOS flared skirt belted trench coat pretty much identical to the one that I'd ordered from ASOS the previous day for ~£40, which obviously went back by return. Serendipity that.
Leather trousers similar to a pair I'd been eyeing up but were too expensive. They are so comfy and fit like they were made for me and make my legs looks skinny Blush I coukdny believe it.
Max-Mara ankle grazer trousers for work.

I also pick up lots of work clothes (Next etc) in there, some things donated are literally in new condition, but the above are my fave bargains.

I don't really have a clue about labels. What I like about charity shop buys is finding something you maybe wouldn't have gone looking for but you find it and it suits you. Who would've known! I also love weird bits of jewellery. My best find was a 20's beaded headdress thingy for a fiver.

I've recently discovered an absolute gem of a charity shop in a local, very affluent market town. I've bought...

Small Fendi clutch - £3

Grey, velvet Nicole Fahri coat (still with tag in) - £20

Silk, dark bronze harem pants, All Saints - £8

My friend picked up a brand new Boden skirt, a White Stuff tunic and a John Lewis Mac, all three items came to less than £12.

I got a Moschino summer dress for £8 a few years ago. Sadly too fat for it at the moment. It's my favourite and I wish I could still fit into it.

And a gorgeous Karen Millen cardigan/jacket thing in pristine condition for £4. Worse it until it fell apart.

These charity shops sound pretty good - the ones round my way price things up if they are a posh name, or nearly new.

Even t shirts they'll sell for a fiver.

Longhairmightcare · 05/08/2017 16:43

woollychimp same! most of the ones round us are like that (and in a fairly affluent area). That's why the barnados mentioned above stands out, still uses actual charity shop prices! It's the only one I actually make a point of going in.

A black MaxMara virgin wool blazer for a tenner.
