Too fat for heels

So what do I wear on a night out?

Winter is easy because I wear boots but I hate being invited out in the summer. Weddings/ christenings/ nights out all have an implied dress code of heels.

I'm just too fat for them though- what's the alternative?

Why are you too fat for heels? I don't understand? Confused

Snap8TheCat · 04/08/2017 09:14

Are you very overweight yourself?

You can get pretty flats?

I had a foot problem recently and couldn't wear heels but got some sandals with a very small wedge - wide fitting from Clarks

ShotsFired · 04/08/2017 09:16

Wedges?

ShotsFired · 04/08/2017 09:17

Heavily bejewelled flats are another option. Bling works as an alternative to height.

Snap8TheCat · 04/08/2017 09:18

Oh wedges might be ok as long as they aren't too high.

I love flats and pretty much live in them. I always feel a bit underdressed in them though.

I don't wear heels -- can't walk in them and am also pretty tall anyway. There are nice flats and sandals around, either fancy looking or just smart and understated.
Don't worry too much about it (I know, easier said than done).

Something like

even?

I think flats can look smart and elegant, but if you're not too happy being stuck with them maybe decide to focus on other elements of your outfit?

Oops

these

I have shoes with a tiny block heel (about 2cm) - might those work for you? Like these:

Slightly higher, more upmarket version:

Cheaper with metallic trim:

I'm very overweight hourglass and wear them everyday for work, a block or stacked heel or a wedge, not a stiletto. It's possible that I look like a cello balanced on toothpicks, but they go with my 50s style of dressing, I feel dumpier in flats. Have you tried a small block heel or a wedge with straps?

NomDePlumeReloaded · 04/08/2017 09:24

Implied dress code of heels?

Do they? I wear flats to those events just as often as I wear heels.

Wow you lot are fast with links!

Thanks so much, off to have a proper look and hopefully order something!

You need a wedge heel.
Doesn't have to be that high. Lots in the sales at the moment.
