House of Colour paintbox spring

Sorry if this has been done to death, but the only threads I can find are really old. I had my colours done with HOC recently and it seems I'm a paintbox spring. Haven't had any new stuff for ages so ready to clear out my wardrobe (black/teals) and buy new basics. I've enjoyed spending my birthday money on good chocolate brown/tan bags, new t shirts(yellow and coral, who knew!) Thing is, winter's on it's way.. Does anyone have any ideas for a capsule smart/casual wardrobe stuff in the sales ? I'm 5'2 size 8.

If you look on the Kettlewell Colours blog there are some great capsule wardrobes, of course you do not have to use the Kettlewell clothes.

I'm a HOC blue spring and I often find good colours in Whistles and Oasis so that might be worth a look?

this is the post I was thinking of

Ooh thank you for the link. It's a great starting point. I usually stick to a formula of black/navy bottom half and something dark blue/green on top so all this wearing two or three colours together lark is going to take some getting used to, don't want to look like a macaw! Think I'll start with navy trousers and skirts and go from there.

I'm a HoC Blue Spring too. Three colours doesn't have to be very CBeebies, which was what worried me. It can be mostly neutral like navy, grey with one colour & then a scarf or item of jewellery to introduce a third.
Biggest change I made was buying navy in place of black & experimenting with inexpensive T shirts & scarves in my best colours till I could get used to it.

I tend to do some kind of navy bottom and top plus grey jacket or navy bottom and cream top for work. Then bright shoes (I have some pink pointy flats) or jewellery.

Someone on here once said it's the contrast which is the key thing to get right. Paintbox springs are high contrast folk apparently. Dunno, I try to work on that but don't know if I get it right.

Thanks Pylliswig. It all makes sense really, I've never liked wearing white tops. I need to replace black work boots so will buy brown for the winter, and look for navy flats. .
