Wide leg needlecord trousers

Any tips where to find them? Ideally navy, black or khaki. I am chunky of thigh with a fairly small waist.
I asked in a previous post but realised it is so long people may lose will to live before being able to answer.
Thank you!

No suggestions yet but I've read that corduroy will be around again in the autumn so we may start seeing some in a few weeks time. My first port of call would be Uniqlo and Cos. I'd put money on Toast having some too but they'll be pricey.

duriandurian · 02/08/2017 19:10

Oooh, I'm clearly channeling retro style. Good thinking on Uniqlo etc.. Will keep an eye out. Thank you!

I'm hankering after some too Smile

duriandurian · 02/08/2017 19:58

I like the atom retro link, thanks.
Unfortunately the cotton trader ones appear to have an elastic arse "back waist" which means I might be a bit too much into comfy slacks territory (tempting but should fight against it for a few more years I feel).

Oops elasticated not elastic arse

I put the cotton traders in because the elastic arse waist Grin would give a better fit if you have a similar stature to me (size 10 waist but need to wear a 12 because of muscular thighs).

I have a pair and theyre lovely, incredibly comfy but I do get what you mean about possibly looking older in style. But you cant see the waist under a tunic/jumper etc

duriandurian · 02/08/2017 20:13

Alas I am a 12 waist and a 14 hip so dumpier than you and more at risk of a mum bum look. Hey ho, here's hoping all the time put in at the gym this summer pays off and shrinks me a bit...

I shall be pulling the ones I already own from the depths of the cupboard! It's been a few years since they had an outing outside the house, but I have them in black, brown and navy (which was olive but the olive Dylon was awful). Not a great navy TBH; I may try to redo it!

Floisme · 03/08/2017 09:02

I've found some in the cupboard too Sock Grin but they're more extreme flare than wide leg and I'm not sure I'm quite ready for them yet. I used to have some lovely grey slightly pleated / tapered ones but can't find them anywhere.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 03/08/2017 09:05

Mmm corduroy. I was tempted by some cords in Anthropologie a few months' back but they were skinny and sadly more suited to DD than yours truly.

PS love 'elastic arse' brilliant!

OCSockOrphanage · 03/08/2017 09:08

These were a triumph of common sense for me, Flo: I tried them on and they were so darned comfortable (2% Lycra) and flattering, I got all three colours. I even went back to ask if the shop could get more a replacement olive pair after the originals faded but the company was no more.

However, if my plan to learn to sew comes good, I shall have a bash at copying them.

duriandurian · 03/08/2017 09:50

Ha! I just posted on another thread that I really wished I had been smart enough to have all of my nice clothes copied in Vietnam whilst we were still in Asia.
It would be so much easier (tho' admittedly dull for most people) if shops just sold the same thing year after year. I really resent finding the perfect X and then dashing back to buy more only to realise that they have sold out. And then trying to buy it on eBay forever more (pure collection hooded knee length cashmere cardi please stand up).
I don't think I could walk out of the house in anything I had made myself .

These look nice and are, of course, no longer available.

These are slim leg but have stretchy fabric.

Just had a thought, if you like that slouchy/comfy style maybe try mens cords. Theres hundreds of them online and they would be wide leg.

duriandurian · 03/08/2017 10:32

Unfortunately I need super tailored at the top and then wide at the bottom so don't think men's would work. Will wriggle into a few when school uniform shopping in M&S over the holidays tho'. That would make life easier.

If you find some let us all know where from. Grin

duriandurian · 03/08/2017 11:16

I certainly will! And will upload an attractive picture of my elastic arse too!

Strummerville · 03/08/2017 19:14

I have some from Toast, oh how I love them. They're brown, which is my fave, fit perfectly, and have the perfect slouchy wide leg that hangs so well without looking as though they don't fit / are too big.

I'm a pear shape who's struggled with trousers all her adult life, and you'll have to prise these from my cold, dead hands.

Parker231 · 03/08/2017 19:17

Mango?

duriandurian · 03/08/2017 20:45

Ooh will have a look at toast. But I don't like brown so won't steal yours specifically. Thanks for the tip! Didn't look in mango today. Was repelled by the amount of nylon static and cold shoulder tops in Zara when I went in to check for unseasonably early cords.

Should have mentioned I got mine a few years ago when they still did archive sales, so I don't know if they have anything similar this season Blush

Good luck with the hunt! I love cord!

duriandurian · 03/08/2017 21:22

Archive sales. Hmmm, will investigate. Thank you! The world of shopping has changed since I last took it seriously.
