Every day trainer that's suitable for plantar fasciitis

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 01/08/2017 19:30

Plantar fasciitis is a pita and I need to be very careful what I wear, totally flat shoes are no good, Birkenstocks are great.
I need a new pair of trainers. What can you recommend?
Not sketchers though as they don't feel at all supportive to me.

NuBalance or Asics.

vickyors · 01/08/2017 19:39

I'd also say new balance or asics. But to sort my PF, I sorted out my hamstrings and leg muscles. Then no problem. But PF is horrendous.

ElfrideSwancourt · 01/08/2017 19:46

I say it every time people ask about PF - Fit Flops are the answer- they do trainers/ballerinas/boots etc as well as flip flops and they have totally cured me (as long as I keep wearing them).

ChishandFips33 · 01/08/2017 21:16

I wear insoles for PF but can get away without them with my Adidas superstars - they are wide, chunky and I think slightly shaped inside

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/08/2017 21:21

DS wears New Balance but have also heard that Asics are good.

and I take it you meant Fit Flops in your 2nd sentence Chis? Flip Flops are terrible and DS had a flare up on holiday - interestingly he finds Crocs good, if not that stylish for a teenager...

phillyandbanana · 01/08/2017 21:39

Another Flit Flop fan here.
I wear sports insoles (from Amazon) in my ASICS trainers, in fact in all shoes.
Never go bare foot and do the exercises religiously.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 01/08/2017 21:45

Fit flops for summer and Clarks 'funny dreams' with airdrop insoles the rest if the time .. I put the insoles in boots too if I wear them.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 01/08/2017 21:47

Sorry, you asked for trainers! Nike air max are good as are adidas cloud, I can wear both of those without the 'airdrops' I usually wear some Karrimor ones with my insoles for long walks.

peonyinparadise · 01/08/2017 21:55

I've recently been using a Power Plate at the gym. Standing on it at the end of a workout has done wonders for my pf. Calf muscles + foot fascia much more comfortable after a tingly zap Grin

DisorderedAllsorts · 01/08/2017 22:01

Just coming onto say fit flop too.

Smilelikeyoufeelit · 01/08/2017 22:05

Been wearing Oofos for a few months now. It's made a massive difference to the pain. In fact, I've bought a pair just to wear in the house this weekend.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 00:18

Fit flops do trainer type shoes, with a look.

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 02/08/2017 07:21

Thanks all! 😄
I've ordered some new balance trainers so hope they do the job.

Ah bollocks. The New Balance trainers don't fit. :(
Too narrow, possibly too small and not enough support- the sole inside the trainer is very flat.

Any other suggestions?

I am 3 weeks into my Fitflop white leather "sneakers" and am feeling a massive difference in my PF. I am no longer hobbling round like an 87 yr old first thing.

I also have some Ecco trainer/shoes and some Adidas Gazelles. With both of these I don't need the orthotic insoles.

Floralnomad · 03/08/2017 15:35

I have PF and I know you said no Sketchers , but I have the Gowalk 3 and they are excellent , not the most attractive trainer in the world though .

Unicorn81 · 03/08/2017 15:40

Well my podiatrist probably wouldnt recommend but they worked for me, Nike studio lace up trainers, got plain black for work and manage to get away with it even though im in office

ChishandFips33 · 03/08/2017 20:56

??Wax - no mention of flip flops - agree they are terrible

Adidas Superstars are (fashion rather than sports) trainers - lots of colours to choose from

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/08/2017 21:03

Sorry Chis I should have said ElfrideSwancourt :)

Wondering whether I should get plain black superstars for DS1 for school? He has narrow feet and that style always look like they'll be too wide.

ChishandFips33 · 03/08/2017 21:31

Lol Wax I must have read my post 6 times looking for the flip flop reference - was convinced I just couldn't see it!

They are wider and more comfortable than my Gazelles so might be too wide
Saying that I think mine are a half size too big as I was relying on needing the insole in!

ElfrideSwancourt · 04/08/2017 08:14

@WaxOnFeckOff I meant Fit Flop flip flops not any other type. I think considering my whole post was waxing lyrical about FitFlops it was obvious what I meant. I wouldn't ever suggest ordinary flip flops for PF.

woollyminded · 04/08/2017 08:26

I have Saloman Speed Cross 4 which are trail running shoes for PF feet. Which I think are so good that they actually contributed to curing my PF. They're not a 'going out' shoe, very sporty looking but I wear them to walk to work, walking the dog, doing housework etc. (Still do the exercises too even though the PF is pretty much gone)

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/08/2017 09:06

Keep you hair on Elfride! :o I said I was assuming you'd meant Fit Flops and was then just saying about the experience my son had with normal flip flops - I wasn't accusing you of anything.
