A challenge! Grey Hamble Oaks.

I tried on some black Hamble Oaks in Clarks yesterday, and realised that I can't wear them in my normal size (6) but need a 5.5. So my planned eBay purchase of the grey ones in a 6 can't happen, and I can't find any in a 5.5 (standard width).

Can any MN shopping super heroes find any for me? I spent a good hour googling last night... Black just won't look as good with my new navy trousers as the dark grey.

I thought 39 was size 6! Thanks so much!

EU/UK sizes can shift about a bit depending on manufacturer (particularly as you get near to 7) but the size chart says it is specifically a Clarks size chart, and they are listing the half sizes, so this looks as safe as ordering online is going to be.

To be fair, so did I, but Amazon's size chart claims otherwise, and that a 6 is a 39.5. Hope it is not a work of complete fiction...!

Most shops only list "whole" sizes, they'll say 5, 6, 7 and they'll say 38, 39, 40. Even though the difference in mm between an EU size and the next one up is different to the difference in mm between a UK size and the next one up.

I have had a shop assistant in Office tell me that a 7 is 40 in women's shoes but a 41 in men's shoes. While I was standing next to the unisex trainers.

Anyway, it's not just a generic Amazon size chart, it's a size chart for Clarks shoes, so if you tried on the size that Clarks called "6" and decided that you needed the next one down, then you are reasonably safe.

It actually makes sense, as I've had issues with size 39 being too small before (and had assumed it was a small 6). If it's actually 5.5 that makes sense. I can only wear a 5.5 in styles that are deep and fit a high instep, and which have rounded rather than pointed toes, which is why the Hamble Oaks work.
