What colour is your hair now?

Bacere · 29/07/2017 15:43

Just brown, plain brown.

What colour do you want to have then?

Bacere · 29/07/2017 16:17

Don't really know (that sounds sooo stupid), just want a lift so nothing like blue or red def not blonde. Looked ar packets in shops to get an idea but saw they all state 99% grey coverage so it left me wondering about what people use if it's just a subtle change they are looking for.

So I'm guessing that you just want to enhance the colour that you already are.

If your hair is brown. When you have a look at the colour on the model on the box...if it's the same colour as your hair.. Then DONT get that one or your hair will turn out darker.they are always darker on shop bought hair dye's.
So you need pick a colour that is two shades lighter than your own hair. (This is a known fact- you can Google it).
There are some hair dyes that don't mention grey hair coverage on them.
So you need to have another look in the shops (colours aren't accurate online)
All the brands are alright. Although some people will have their favourite brand.but that would be having had experience of using them.
The semi- permanent dyes wash out over time.
The permanent dyes grow out- so could leave a line showing the new regrowth.
I personally have used any dye. I'm currently using " Schwarzkopf poly color" £2. The reviews online are great too.
Hope this helps you and gives you a better idea now.

It's the wash out ones I want. I used to buy one years ago that was just a sachet and lasted just for a few washes, but looking now they all seem to be boxes and state excellent grey coverage. I guess I'm not looking in the right places. I'll look online as you mention. Thanks for coming back/trying to help.

There are some wash out ones on Superdrug.
They're called " Superdrug color effects".
I suppose you could read the reviews and see what people have put.
Your welcome and I hope you get sorted with one.Smile

Just found this op.

" Nice n easy . colour enhancer hair dye"
Lasts up to 8 washes.

There are reviews on Superdrug.
It mentions grey hair coverage. But I personally don't think it will matter if you use it and haven't any grey hair.

Those sachets a few years ago were called 'Shaders' and 'Toners'. The former were for blonde hair, the latter for brunettes IIRC.

I tried the Superdrug modern equivalent in a light ash blonde shade but it had a similar effect to the silver shampoo I already use.

Gotanewusernamenow · 29/07/2017 18:00

I remember those shaders and toners and a hint of tint.that another thread I read reminded me of.
Wonder why they stopped making them!

It's always the same when you like a product.. They discontinue it.
Well I hope you find what you want anyway

Bacere · 30/07/2017 15:19

That's what I was looking for shaders and toners, knew I hadn't dreamt it. Thanks both, I'm planning on a trip to Superdrug mid-week.
