How to look after wavy hair?

It's taken me 32 years to realise I have naturally wavy hair. I spent most of my teens and early 20's straightening the crap out of it and never really learned how to take care of my waves.

My hair texture is very thick and fluffy and if I try to straighten it, it just looks dry and starts to poof up and kink within hours. I've given up on being straight!!

Some days I let it dry naturally and it looks perfect, other days I do the exact same thing and it turns into a nest of frizz. I've bought so many products over the years and only found one mousse that worked which was discontinued long ago. I now use sea foam by treasemme but it's not very hydrating and I end up with kinky hair rather than waves.

I've just discovered co washing but was wondering if there are any other tips to stop the frizz and regain my curl pattern.

I too have thick, wavy/curly hair and it has taken me years and years to finally get the hang of it! I now have it cut into a short bob, and use L'Oréal mythic oil after washing/conditioning when it's still wet. It's taken me a few tries to get the quantities right, but I now do 3 squirts on one side and 2 on the other (side parting so more hair on one side). I then scrunch it up and let it dry naturally and that seems to work 9 times out of 10! I can sometimes get away with rough drying it too but that only works about 2 times in 10. Good luck!

Ah I will try that River and maybe not use any mousse/hair foam and see what happens. I tend to use product to make it more wavy as my curl pattern has been destroyed by heat and bleach.

I try to blast my roots dry to prevent them looking greasy but it's hard to not overdry the mid lengths at the same time creating more frizz!!

I diffused my hair last night thinking it may help but my hair is now twice the size and not as defined as if I'd let it dry naturally!!

I use a salt spray (Philip B maui wauwie) to make it more wavy and then L'Oréal extraordinary oil or aussie curl serum and that seems to make lovely bouncy waves without frizz. Try not brushing but using a wide tooth comb after washing - it doesn't really work for me, makes my hair look more messy but may work for you.
