I don't have any alternative.

The skirt / heels are not great but they'll do. The vest / cardi is AWFUL but i genuinely don't have anything better.

I have the same problem op. We advertised on local seek and sell (anything similar there?) for a morning nanny. She comes to the house at 7.15 and gets the kids sorted for school then drops them off at nursery /school and finishes at 9.15 each morning. I didn't think anyone would be interested but plenty of people were. Worth a try?

Uh?

No, you have to accept the job! The whole of MN is behind you!

Find a way, OP, find a way.

Could u find a childminder to do the mornings?

Gosh. This is a rollercoaster.

Went to bed last night absolutely gutted that we couldn't make it work. Seems so silly to have to turn down a job for the sake of 40 minutes of childcare!!!

Went into the school office this morning to ask what other parents did and the school secretary has offered to have them from 7.30 next week!! One week only, short term solution, but gives me a bit of breathing space to find something better. She is an angel!

I have ACCEPTED the job.

I've made 100 phonecalls this morning trying to find a more permanent solution. I've posted an ad on my local fb page. Now I just need to work out my commute, oh and lesson plan for nxt week!!!

Getting a bit off track for S&B here, sorry. But I AM going shopping today and I will report back on what I bought. Pic is what I'm wearing today - someone once told me you should always go clothes shopping wearing an outfit you like.

How lovely of secretary to offer that! Omg you have inspired me to no longer wear the boring mundane same as everybody else interview outfit next time I get one!

I think I read you move abroad, what about ex-pats groups? You never know might be someone local who knows of child care.

Looking forward to seeing what you buy

Great news. I'm so glad you accepted. Good luck with the shopping and with sorting childcare.

I bought! I went shopping with a friend who stopped me from buying an ombre pleated satin skirt that faded from pink to silver, and a long fitted houndstooth dress with red roses embroidered, and a pleather and wool cardigan, and some green jeggings, and an oversized loop knitted boxy cardigan in sandwich spread colours. She is a good friend.

I bought this spotty dress.

I bought this jacket in dark blue spots.

I bought this beeeautiful dress (without the belt) - it's longer on me than the model and really flattering.

And a pair of white brogues.

(And I realised my photo of what I wore today didn't load.)

They are lovely! But just to play devils advocate - you went out for plain things and black shoes, and have come back with 2 different lots of polka dots and white brogues!

Can you think of 3 outfits the jacket and shoes will go with? If not, it might be an idea to swap for something more versatile.

Sorry to be a party pooper - they are really lovely! But nice items on their own doth not a wardrobe make!

Spotty counts as plain though, doesn't it?

No! That's a pattern. Plain means block colours. You can't wear a spotty jacket with a different spotty dress, or with a different pattern, for example!

i'm not sure about the white brogues, but your clothes choices look really nice. I'm guessing that this is as "plain" as you go, and totally agree with PPs about not completely losing your own style at work. really good luck with the new job!!

I can. I did today!

I'm going with this as my new fashion mantra.

I think the tiny dots like on Pika 's new jacket can count as plain.

Not completely sure about the white brogues either. They make me look a bit like a west African businessman.

I think we can all agree the brogues were a mistake.

Sorry OP, but I agree that the brogues need to go back to the shop what were you thinking? Grin. The shoes you've shown in your other pics have been spot on, imo. I'm not sure that brogues (of any colour) will do you any favours tbh, if you're large-of-foot they make your feet look bigger than they are, especially when worn with skirts / dresses.

Love the new clothes though, and congratulations on the job! FC you can sort the child care Smile

I think the main problem with the shoes is that they were REALLY cheap and they look it - more so up close. They are also a bit big - I have mahoosively wide feet and sometimes end up getting flippers so they're wide enough. One day I will learn.
