I don't think I'm smart enough for my interview (pic)

I don't have any alternative.

The skirt / heels are not great but they'll do. The vest / cardi is AWFUL but i genuinely don't have anything better.

Sorry but I thought you looked lovely.
I thought it was not an office job from the way you looked. please don't change who you are for a job, as it would mean you were being false.
You say you want a new wardrobe for the job, I think you should just buy matching things for an outfit, a dress you like and shoes you can feel comfortable in.
Ebay here you come.
Good luck and enjoy...

I'm not 'determined' to wear them Yogi, but I can't afford to buy a whole new wardrobe. I'm working with what I've got.

Thank you mummmy - that's good advice.

I'm not very stylish tbh - I just buy things I like and then I'm all surprised when I look mismatched!

Headline news: WEIRDLY DRESSED WOMAN GETS JOB!!
Yay!

Agree re jersey dresses. They are my work uniform as they are easy to wash, don't need ironing, don't crease if stuffed in a suitcase (I travel a lot for work), are flattering on me.

I've got them from shops including:

  • baukjen
  • Reiss
  • Hobbs
  • phase 8
  • jersey dress company

I always buy in sales / via eBay as these are all expensive at full price

Sorry. There was obviously something wrong with the tone of my post. I really didn't mean any offence. I was also trying to work with what you had.

No worries Yogi! You sound sorted and stylish, which is exactly the sort of person I need advice from. I am far from both of these things.

If you like the skirt then stick with it, but as the skirt is patterned I'd wear it with plain tights and probably black shoes.

Unless you are very stylish and have a great eye for fashion, I think it's better to stick to one patterned thing. I'll often wear a patterned dress but with plain black tights, plain shoes.

Congratulations! Teacher interviews are all about attitude, knowledge and enthusiasm... you can't fake that with nude courts and a pencil skirt Grin. You obviously wowed them with the former!

Stand down everyone.

Am just working out the details and I think I'll have to turn it down. Can't see a realistic way to get the kids to school and me to work on time. Been looking at it from every angle.

The only way involves leaving the kids at school 20 mins earlier than strictly allowed, hitting every green light to the bus station, no traffic, and skidding into the classroom 10 minutes before I start teaching.

Bum. Am gutted.

Bugger! Are you in Aus OP? If so there may be some before and after school care available?

Report

Can someone else take the kids to school?

Big congratulations on getting the job, I felt awful saying about your clothes especially after you said you had 1hr before interview so I was really keeping my fingers crossed that you would get the job!

And another congratulations on the weight loss!

Am so happy for you and I'm sorry for saying about your outfit.

Can you check in any local groups if there is breakfast or school clubs or local child minder to do school runs.

Again big congrAtulations

Am trying to find out if there's before school care. Nothing attached to the school anyway. Will ask tomorrow morning if there's anything I've missed.

We're really new to the area. Trying to made friends but barely know anyone yet.

Congratulations on the job! What age will you be teaching? DS year 6 teacher always looks great in patterned dresses, cardies and boots.

Re. Childcare - what about a childminder?

Congrats on the job. I'm going to add that I guessed teaching job too. Ask around for breakfast clubs. There has to be other working parents in the area who have to start at 9am too!
