Holiday shoes - comfortable, vaguely stylish, good for walking!

Last minute holiday being organised; city break with likely lots of walking. Planning to wear mainly long linen trousers.

Walking shoes are going to be too hot, and I can't find a comfy pair of sandals.

Trainers would work, but won't look right.

Alternative options please?!

Hopeful bump?

Clarks romantic moon sandals are super comfortable.

Try looking at Ecco or Geox and I've just started wearing Clarks Trigenic - comfortable from the moment I put them on (have 'smart' trainers and sandals).

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 24/07/2017 08:06

Hotter. (I know, I know. Old lady shoes) I got a pair, cross between sandal and shoe. Like walking on a cloud and I'm on my feet all day.

Hi!
I love my Skechers Go Walk. I like the Mary jane style with the elastic strap but if you have a slightly wider foot than me there are loafer styles available too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/07/2017 10:28

Another vote for Clarks trigenic - really light, really comfortable and (imvho) less offensive on the eye than Skechers.

InferiorDecorator · 24/07/2017 17:42

Hmm, might try out the clarks/sketchers option; I have slightly funny feet so do need to try things on sadly.

Any other ideas welcome!

I've got Sketchers go walk but also some Sketchers sandals if it's going to be warm

Hoppinggreen · 24/07/2017 17:45

Apparently crocs cleo are really good too

Wait4nothing · 24/07/2017 17:45

I've got smart trainers in plum for this purpose - definitely trainers and not canvas shoes as they are rubbish long distances

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 24/07/2017 17:50

I got some strappy crocs in the US and they're a dream to walk in:

I bought these in silver this year, and they're so, so comfortable. I can walk for miles in them, and I have funny feet too Smile. I'm going to buy another pair, actually.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/07/2017 17:55

Agree that trainers are probably a must as well. When I do a summer city break I alternate between ugly but comfortable Clarks sandals, trainers and a sort of Maryjane-esque type cross between a trainer and a ballet shoe.

PanannyPanoo · 24/07/2017 17:56

earth spirit are super comfy

Catchytune · 24/07/2017 18:57

Clarks do a silver leather slip on Hidi. Now in the sale. Go with everything, nothing to rub and thick sole.

InferiorDecorator · 26/07/2017 12:59

Finally made it to the shops. Clarks didn't fit my feet, but Sketchers... I have two pairs. They're like slippers!!!

Got these in grey to wear with my light coloured trousers, and these for darker colours.

And they were on sale so about 60% off those prices.

I was going to suggest sketchers and also fitflops if you're still looking. They do loads of styles now and are extremely comfy.

InferiorDecorator · 26/07/2017 13:12

I haven fitflop flip flop sandals (if that makes sense) and they are great for slow wanders, but not for more concentrated walking.

These sketchers just seem fab, so crossing my fingers they'll do the job, or I'll be holiday shoe shopping!

I second earth spirit. I have these ones

I third earth spirit! I also have some- super comfy.

InferiorDecorator · 28/07/2017 09:02

Hmm, might have a look at earth spirit when I get back - I do prefer shoes for walking though, rather than sandals because of dodgy feet, but it's shoe shopping... Confused
