Does anyone else not get it? He seems to have this cult like following with people holding him up as some sort of god.

All I see are clickbaity YouTube video titles that don't have all that much substance? A few weeks ago he was hailing The Ordinary foundations as a 'game changer', but since they have been launched people are totally 'meh' about them. And now he is saying some other product is 'the best foundation ever'.

He insists that his videos are not sponsored so I just think he does a video about a product and calls it 'OMG THE BEST MASCARA EVER' to get clicks.

Am I missing something?

He has some makeup tips that really work, especially to do with foundation application, but he seems to be doing more and more videos that simply regurgitate these, as well as the clickbaity product-sponsered ones you describe.

Might be worth checking out some of his early stuff?

Yes, maybe I will have a look at some.of his earlier videos. Although I did watch a video of a 'lifechanging eyeshadow application tip for hooded eyes' which basically was the same as what many other youtubers and beauty bloggers say. But then again, maybe they got the tip from him Smile

I like some of his brow videos, in which he shows how your brows affect the perceived size of your nose, also the 'triangle of light' idea, push liner, etc - plus the forementioned foundation tips (adding oil, powdering before, etc).

Yes I do wonder if certain things that I have read about everywhere else and seem to be common knowledge (eg. Putting oil in foundation) actually originated from him and that is how he became so popular?

If that is the case I don't think he should go down the route he is currently going down now though as he will just end up discrediting himself.

For ages I totally thought he was related to Luke and Matt Goss as well - he even looks a bit like them!

A lot of 'his' tips, like the oil in foundation have been around for years. They aren't an original thought from the mind of WG.
