Anti wrinkle creams

doreen007 · 21/07/2017 22:18

Do they work? Is there a cream that actually does what is says. Removes wrinkles leaving the face nice and smooth? Tried many face products, but none actually seen to iron out the few wrinkles I have on my forehead.
Perhaps some here have had better luck? If so, any recommendations as to product?

What it says is ' helps reduce the appearance of...'. Which promises nothing at all.

That's the beauty 'industry' for you.

Fruitboxjury · 21/07/2017 22:28

There's no miracle product either, just TM hundreds for you to plough through and spend your money on in the quest for the magical elixir.

However, the main trends at the moment seem to be retinol and layering (using several different products to do different things rather than one that claims to do all).

I'm trying both and I like the effect it's having.

doreen007 · 22/07/2017 07:17

I'll have try retinol and layering. Although wrinkles not noticeable, photos bring out the worst in me. And can be clearly seen. Perhaps a face mast next time having photo taken.....

I think wrinkles are dependent on genetics and lifestyle

Nishky · 22/07/2017 07:30

I think it's the body shop oils of life, er, oil, that has made a difference to me. I just use cheap moisturiser on top. The lines on my face have definitely diminished

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 22/07/2017 09:02

The only thing I've found that's helped a bit is the no7 protect and perfect serum

Also always wear factor 50 on your face and neck

Branleuse · 22/07/2017 09:15

None of them actually remove wrinkles.

wheresmyphone · 22/07/2017 09:24

And if there were any proof needed how rubbish these creams are, are the latest adverts from L'Oreal etc. Global marketing, face products sold old over the world, spend millions on advertising on line, in print and on TV....read the small print...."we have a control sample of 97 people" yep, 97 people as a global control group, yeah, that's scientific😀.

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 22/07/2017 09:44

Tbh though the only thing that properly got rid of my wrinkles was the botox I had recently 😳😳😄

Floisme · 22/07/2017 10:16

Yes always read the small print. They never promise to remove anything and if they did, you wouldn't be able to buy them over the counter. Retinol is heavy duty stuff - personally I wouldn't touch it.

In any case, I don't think wrinkles are worth stressing about. They're not the only symptom of ageing and they're certainly not the worst. The beauty industry only bangs on about them because they're low hanging fruit and, once they've drawn you in, they can sell you more stuff.

buggerthebotox · 22/07/2017 10:35

I think lifestyle is the main factor determining ageing. And genetics: in the main, people with good bone structure will always look younger longer regardless of wrinkling.

However I believe some products DO make a difference. I think Protect and Perfect perhaps does. I've tried it and noticed a difference. Currently I'm using some cream recommended by Dr Oz and and that's making a difference, I think. However ageing isn't just about wrinkles. There's thinning hair, loss of muscle tone, redistribution of weight, and the mother of all ageing factors-facial sagging.

Wrinkles are an easy target for advertising and of course we fall for it! Who wouldn't?

I must admit though, that, at 57, my skin is clearer, less porous, and perhaps even less wrinkled than it has been in a while. I've b0een using creams, yes, but I've also been making a big effort to take care of myself.

So it's gym, healthy diet, and a good old-fashioned dose of vanity for me! .

I am also just happy that I am alive and healthy and get to experience growing old, but appreciate that is not what this thread is about.

buggerthebotox · 24/07/2017 12:54

Thanks to this thread I now have all manner of anti-ageing gadgets following me around the internet.

Any one tried home microdermabrasion?

LockedOutOfMN · 24/07/2017 13:05

I use No. 7 Protect and Perfect twice a day after cleansing, the serum and then 5 minutes later the night or day cream. I wear a sun hat and sunglasses and try to stick to the shade, but when I am in any sunlight I wear factor 50 sunscreen (I use La Roche Posay).

For ironing out wrinkles, you will need Botox, OP.

Beware of retinol as it can be damaging to dry skin.

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 24/07/2017 16:56

Bugger...never tried home dermabrasion (eek) but had in salon one it's pretty good

CallingPeopleACuntOnFb · 24/07/2017 16:57
