If you don't go down the surgical route how do you stop your face from drooping ?

Some people age like their Mums - me - I get to look like my Dad !! Consequently, my jowls are droopy and my neck is really scraggy.

DH hates that I want surgery to fix this. It's not that I'm that vain, it's just the face in the mirror doesn't match what's in my head and it's depressing when I'm getting ready to go out and I'm dressed up and made up I still don't look like me. The idea of fillers frightens me - so what do I do ? I know the grown up thing to do is rise above it and not be so shallow, but I'm just not ready to look like an old hag yet.

Any advice ?

I'm fine with wrinkles, I'm fine with body droopiness (just about), but jowls is fucking depressing even though I suspected I would age this way from looking at my family history Sad

What is this Carolyn's thing?

Onthehighseas · 22/07/2017 22:15

Am I the only one who thinks that woman looks better in the before picture of that Consulting Clinic picture? confused

No you aren't, she looks loads better in the first photo. There's something strangely frozen about her in the second one, and the area between her nose and mouth looks really odd.

NigellasGuest · 22/07/2017 22:22

Actually I disagree - she does look better in the after photo IMO

Joan Collins has her excellent plastic surgeon to thank - not facial exercises!

What is the name of the beauty device mentioned in Saturday's Times Magazine, would love to know!

FeiYenKansu · 23/07/2017 05:10

Impressed so far
I've had this device for 4 weeks now and, as a beauty device fan, I am really impressed so far. I've used other face toning devices and this one compares pretty well so far. It's a bit too soon for long lasting results, I think, but it is so easy to use that I know I'll stick with it and that's what counts with these things!
The serum it comes with is really nice to use, better than other gels I have used with face devices in the past and it's great that you get two in the box so don't have to buy more for months and months. I like the low and tightening I get after treatment and I'm looking forward to seeing the longer term results in a few weeks.

Interesting post with the before and after pics. Reading the reviews about the clinic is even more interesting IYKWIMHmm

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/07/2017 08:37

Here!

I've earned every one of these wrinkles and no-one is taking them off me!

(Could do without the dewlap, though Sad )

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/07/2017 08:47

I just woke up with a new deep wrinkle I swear wasn't there yesterday. I know it wasn't.

So I'm reading the reviews of the device, but am not convinced. I think I'll look up the silk pillowcases people have been mentioning here as well.

QuiteChic · 23/07/2017 11:58

Hattie I swear this isn't about my 'worth'. As big headed as it sounds, I think I'm quite gorgeous Wink . I'm just fed up with looking grumpy (which probably makes me look even grumpier ! ). However I checked out the facial yoga this morning and think this is definitely worth a shot and if nothing else it'll make me giggle.

This thing about looking grumpy / cross - it niggles. I see it a lot on here and cosmetic clinics talk the same talk. It clearly strikes a chord with us and I do wonder why we fear it so much. I have never in my whole life heard a man say he was worried about looking cross.

I dont think anything except surgery will do any lasting good,
There is a treatment called Ultherapy,i know someone who paid £700 for full face, supposed to help build collagen ,but its a waste of money she doesnt look any different, and thats on top of a top up,
Also the thread facelft works up to a point, but doesnt last
I would love a necklift, but very expensive
The woman who plays Dev in Coronation street[forgot her name] has had it apparently, but i dont know how long ago

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 23/07/2017 13:53

Look up Facerobics on YouTube. It's a programme of face exercises and I really rate it.

Lunaballoon · 23/07/2017 17:53

I see very little actual difference in the before and after pics above apart from the lighting. I've noticed the same on other cosmetic clinics' websites.

lovemycatsanddog · 23/07/2017 18:23

[Quite Chic] I understand how you feel, i dont blame anyone for having surgery if it makes them feel better about themselves,
I would love a neck lift, for myself, i am older than you, but i hate looking in mirrors, and i cant go anywhere without make up
I had my eye bags done years ago, and felt so different ,much better about myself,it gave me confidence, i had them from being young,
I even started dressing better, before i didnt feel good whatever i wore
So if you want to go down that route eventually go for it
