I have worn the same earrings for 10 years. Now what?

When I had our first baby DH gave me some studs that I have worn every day since.

Now I want some new ones to jazz myself up. I don't go big on bling - I'm a bit more boyish than girly - so anything very OTT or massively dangly is out.

But I read someone saying Dinny Hall hoops were nice and now I'm thinking I might just treat myself to some new earrings. But her website is enormous and I'm intimidated by it. Budget of up to maybe £150.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thank you!

You could look at the John Lewis website and see which Dinny Hall styles they carry.

Where are you? The Dinny Hall shop is very lovely and it's a lot easier presented with everything in real life. I still love my earrings but have lost one of the securing posts, but I bet they could find one. I must do it!

buy lots of cheap ones and find a style you like, i don't spend £££ on earrings as i lose so many and some cheap ones look good

Check out tatty devine's enamel swallow earrings

I like jewellery box. It is quite cheap and you can experiment to see what you like but nothing will irritate.
Have been wearing gold lightening bolts for ages and love them.

I like Silver by Mail for lots of reasonably priced earrings and loads of choice in styles. You can even buy and return. Most of my earrings are from there.

Thank you all! This is so thrilling, off to stalk now.

And OCSock I'm in London - the Notting Hill shop isn't far from my work so I was wondering about heading up there...

Thank you!

With your budget you could get something handmade that will last and look great forever (apologies, I've become a bit of a jewellery snob over the last few years and will always try and buy something handmade by the actual designer themself rather than made in a Chinese factory).

I buy a lot of jewellery from here (just in the process of commissioning a bespoke bracelet and earrings for myself as a reward for getting a new job):

They have a shop/workshop in Hatton Garden. Worth popping in if you have time. Everything is handmade by UK based designers and the staff are all lovely.

Like HundredMilesAnHour, I like buying directly from a jewellery maker.

My favourites are Alison Moore (I have quite a collection of her gemstone studs) and the Hairy Growler

PS I've bought some lightening flashes from Tatty Devine - thank you for the recommendation! - and am hoping to go to Dinny Hall's shop at some point.

Thank you all!

Some of the Pandora studs are pretty. Can't remember whether they sell hoops though (or whether their hoops are nice).

I am totally in love with these people's earrings. Atm I just have a couple of pairs of drop earrings (sand dollars & ginko leaves) but I'm going to drop heavy hints about these cockleshell studs next birthday :)

carrie74 · 23/07/2017 19:42

I'm similar to you, but having lost too many odd earrings (including 3 diamond studs Shock), I got my (insurance replaced) studs turned into screw backs so they couldn't fall out. All other earrings are pretty cheap so I don't get too upset about losing them. Have several pairs of v cheap silver hoops in different sizes, but a bit nicer are a few pairs of earrings from Decadorn. Love their stuff and brilliant service.
