Lands End Women's Commuter Coat

This is a fantastic coat: long, waterproof, windproof and warm.

Grab it while you can!

this one?

helenfagain · 21/07/2017 09:15

How is their sizing? Most importantly in the bust?

Moogdroog · 21/07/2017 10:42

Waterlow, you menace.. just bought one Shock

Waterlow · 21/07/2017 13:43

Helenf not massive in the bust. I'm a D/E and it's snugly comfortable. But OTOH you don't need a thick jumper with it.

Erm it's a bit ugly (sorry!).

I got my hopes up then with the dream "long, warm, waterproof, bargain" checklist Sad

SerfTerf · 21/07/2017 13:59

Oh dear that was ruder than I meant it. BlushWhat I meant was, why isn't warm, waterproof AND positively attractive possible at less than £300?

... And we've crashed the site

overmydeadbody · 21/07/2017 14:02

Working now! Thanks for the link!

I never said anything about 'beautiful' Grin

The reviews say it's too thick to drive in and like wearing a duvet

How thick is it? I'm an 18 to a 20 - but I don't want to look like the Michelin mam

Waterlow · 21/07/2017 14:23

No, I wouldn't drive in mine. It's for standing around on cold train platforms, watching dc play rugby, walking the dog in January, etc.

Not at home right now to check, but I was 18/20 and very comfy in, I think, a L, possibly an XL.

It is just like wearing a quilt - cosy and comfy.

Waterlow · 21/07/2017 14:24

You won't look like Michelin Mam because it's tailored, so you get smooth curves rather than spare tyres.

Thank you for the link, Waterlow, I've bought one! It's good to find a winter coat that doesn't leave your legs cold.

I need a new coat
And I'm a commuter
But I can't work out whether this is a bit frumpy....

BeeFarseer · 21/07/2017 15:27

I do think it's slightly frumpy, but I have never had an expensive, well-made coat ever. My last winter coat is six years old, from Primark, and is falling apart.

I don't drive and have to walk in all weathers, so I've bought one. Thanks Waterlow!

Toomanyclothes2017 · 21/07/2017 15:40

I'll order one. Can always send it back if not right.
New winter coat has been on my to buy list for a while now.

Gingefringe · 21/07/2017 16:15

I'm a 12/14 so dont know which size to go for.

Summerlightening80 · 24/07/2017 15:07

Has anyone's commuter coat arrived yet? What's it like? Can't decide from the pictures online

Waterlow · 24/07/2017 18:30

I'm back home now and can confirm that my coat is size L (and I'm size 18).

OP posts:
Waxlyrically · 24/07/2017 21:37

I have one of these - the shorter one. It's brilliantly warm and whilst not high fashion isn't completely frumpy. There is a draw string inside so you can tailor it to you and it is slightly shaped too. They only had burgundy in my size when I bought mine, which wasn't my first choice colour, but as I got it for about £50 by using a variety of codes I'm not complaining!

Slimthistime · 24/07/2017 21:48

Possibly stupid question
Is it artificial "down"?
Thanks.

Toomanyclothes2017 · 26/07/2017 12:13

Mine has arrived. My opinion is It's a bit 'meh', not exactly a fashion statement, BUT if it keeps me warm waiting for delayed Southern trains this winter I can sacrifice style for comfort and warmth.
It's not offensive looking, just very boring, in my opinion.

NotAnotheChinHair · 26/07/2017 12:17

Lands End clothes are awful I'm afraid. Good quality yes, but super frumpy.

RhubarbCrumbled · 26/07/2017 14:02

I bought one for commuting and pushing the pram rather than as a fashion statement and it's blimmin lovely! I now wear it for standing on the rugby sidelines in freezing weather with lovely snuggly boots and a flask of tea. Does the job of a warm, waterproof winter coat. Oh, and it looks better without the belt for some reason!
