Taking in a leather skirt?

i bought a leather skirt from The White Company at the end of last year - it's very slightly a-line, black, and beautiful soft leather. I got the 12, which was slightly too big at the waist, and I just tried it on this evening (inspired by the thread about autumn clothes!) to discover it is now really much too big. It's sitting between my waist and hip bones, and even there I can fit a clenched fist in the waistband. Does anyone know if a tailor could alter it, or is leather just a no?

I had an unlined stretch leather pencil skirt taken in at a place in Manchester , the girls there are incredibly good seamstresses. Cost me £18.00. Slightly more complex with lining etc if yours is lined by still doable I reckon.

It could be altered, but you have to remember that you would then be unable to let it out as the stitch holes would show. Any reputable tailor should be able to do it for you.

Thanks so much for replying. It is lined. I use a really good wee place for alterations so will take it in - I won't be wearing it for another few months but it's great to know it's not lost to me. I should hsve got the 10 in the first place but it was a whole pallavar with ordering online and going in and out of stock, so I figured slightly too big would be okay.
