Searching for rocker sole shoes/sandals Skechers and MBT rare as hens teeth

I have hypermobility and problems with my feet and a few years ago a colleague suggested a rocker sole trainer as I was in so much pain with plantar fasciitis. I bought some Skechers shape up trainers and found that I could walk normally for the first time in two years Shock no more pain and they helped to tone my legs as a bonus.

I bought a few pairs when I could afford it and put them in the wardrobe as I wear them at work (I'm a nurse). Obviously wearing trainers all the time limits what I can wear, but I did buy some nice Skechers shape up leather shoes and a pair of sandals for when I wanted to look a bit nicer.

Then.......they stopped making them Sad I couldn't afford MBTs so just bought some more Skechers trainers, but have been searching ever since.

Apparently MBT were taken over by some discount shoe people, the quality and range suffered and the price is still high.

RYN make rocker sole shoes, but it's impossible to find them in the uk.

JML make some trainers like this, but the quality is poor apparently.

I really can't manage without this style of shoe. I've been so much happier and pain free. I've been prescribed NHS insoles, but they work better with the curved sole.

Does anybody know where I might be able to locate a reliable supply of these style of shoes? - preferably leather as I'm sick of wearing trainers.

Are fitflops any good?

Or www.cheerfulsoles.co.uk

Whyisitsodifficult · 19/07/2017 22:32

What size are you? I have a pair of MBT's I've barely worn. I bought them years ago and cost me over £100!

Incitatis · 19/07/2017 22:48

I usually buy size 5 Skechers.

I can't wear fit flops because of the hypermobility in the ankles. They're not supportive enough. I have to wear a pretty chunky sandal when I do manage to locate something suitable.

I hate being like this. I'd love to just wear normal footwear.

The cheerfulsoles site looks good.

Why do they discontinue products? The rocker soles always sell well.

Ah that's a shame mine are a 7. Have you tried EBay?

RJnomore1 · 19/07/2017 22:54

Dh has found oofos sliders are great for similar problems. I saw them recommends on here.

Incitatis · 19/07/2017 23:00

I spend days on eBay searching. I did hit lucky and found a pair of nearly new Skechers sandals recently so I'm waiting for those to be delivered this week. I have no other sandals.

You should sell yours on eBay Why

Fitflop do trainers too. And I have some ballet pump style shoes from them. You'd be welcome to have those to try. They're just not quite right for my feet.

Incitatis · 19/07/2017 23:05

I didn't know fitflop did shoes. I thought it was just the sandals. I'll have a look at the ballet pump style.

Thanks for all these suggestions, I was losing hope last night.

My mum has plantar fascilitis and these are the only shoes she can wear www.xsensible.com/english/women-stretchwalker/

They aren't cheap, but worth it for the comfort!

BambooWhoosh · 19/07/2017 23:15

I've pm'd you.

Incitatis · 19/07/2017 23:16

I saw the MBTs on that site, but people have been finding the quality isn't as reliable since they were taken over. There's a bit of controversy over them now as they're still very expensive Sad I had always promised myself a pair once the Skechers supply had dried up, but then read about the problems and lost confidence.

I like these!

I might have some barely-worn MBTs I'd be happy to give to you. I have PF but they're too small for me (my feet have grown with age and are now 40 so these would be 39 I think). Let me have a look - or is that too big?

Incitatis · 19/07/2017 23:32

I usually take 38's (5) in Skechers, but some are snug and one pair is too big, but they might be 5.5 now I come to think of it.

I would buy them from you if they are suitable. They're so expensive, you can't just give them away. They get snapped up on eBay too.

I love those green shoes that you've linked to OP, I love chunky shoes!

I tend to wear Keen shoes a lot, they are amazing for comfort, don't know if you've tried them?

amazonianwoman · 20/07/2017 00:12

Sympathies, plantar fasciitis is a nightmare.

Fitflop do skater type slip on trainers too, smarter than normal trainers.

What about Fly London? They make shoes, sandals and boots with very thick soles - the heel is cut away so they almost feel like rocker soles.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/07/2017 00:14

Fit Flops have a HUGE range of shoes now - sandals, flip flops, boots and trainers, ballet pumps.

They did have a big sale recently on I got some for £23 instead of £75!

Auntpodder · 20/07/2017 08:12

They're 40.5 apparently in the trainer style although feel smaller than that but they're yours if you want them. I didn't buy them so it wouldn't feel right selling them.

ICJump · 20/07/2017 08:22

If you have narrow feet frankie fours might be worth looking into. If your fear are wide then the foot bed is removed and you don't get the padding.

They are pricey but I've had mine two years and apart from re soling they are good frankie4.com.au
