Which one, out of the two, for a wedding. It's a (not very close) friends wedding. Thanks Smile

If these are truly your only choices, the first one but you'll need to add a little jacket or sweater to make it more wedding appropriate.

Anyone you can borrow a dress from?

onlyhumanafterall · 19/07/2017 17:11

The first one is a sundress and the other is very glam and Christmassy. At a push, number one with a suitable cover up. But if you have to buy a cardi, you may as well buy a dress.

Dailystuck71 · 19/07/2017 17:16

Dress 1 doesn't fit you. Sorry but you've got boobage sticking out plus the length isn't flattering. It's the type of dress I'd wear on holiday between my room and the pool. The second dress is better and flatters your figure - first one doesn't.

PanannyPanoo · 19/07/2017 17:17

I think the first dress with tights, ballet shoes and a jacket or cardi would look lovely for a summer wedding.

Nospringflower · 19/07/2017 17:19

I think the first one is terrible for a wedding. The second one looks lovely, not very weddingy but you look great in it so I would go with that.

Botanicbaby · 19/07/2017 17:20

just wear dress 2, no need to buy a cardi then! Grin

BackforGood · 19/07/2017 17:38

Point is, the OP has asked for style advice. She is being given it. People are struggling to choose as neither option is appropriate wedding wear.
People have then kindly offered other solutions - borrowing, charity shops, and linking to reasonably affordable (and I know that is relative) dresses that would be suitable, to give the OP the advice and support she has asked for. No-one is being horrible.

Doobigetta · 19/07/2017 17:54

Number 1 is too short, and other people must be more polite than me not to have said that your underwear shows through it.
Number 2 isn't really summer wedding-y, but it's the best of the three.
Number 3 isn't appropriate- it's far too tight and low cut. You're supposed to look elegant at a wedding. That dress is not elegant.

tangledup123 · 19/07/2017 17:59

Sorry, I know you don't want to buy a dress OP but I just saw this in H+M and thought it would really suit you Blush

I certainly wasn't trying to be horrible Confused just giving my honest opinion and offering an alternative reasonably priced option. If it's a traditional wedding, regardless of the relationship to the bride and groom, I know I would feel uncomfortable wearing any of the dresses OP has shown even if I had OPs figure

Lucked · 19/07/2017 18:19

No. 1 I think looks too small for you, like you are 5'10 and have bought a dress in the petite section.

No.2 although black I think is the best option, it would be better with a pink/ cream pashmina but f you need to buy something buy a new dress.

No. 3 nope.

Sales are on, last wedding I went to at this time of year I got a dress for £15 in the M&S sales.

LoupGarou · 19/07/2017 18:24

I am religious and I wouldn't feel at all uncomfortable wearing dress 1 at a wedding - provided it isn't a Muslim ceremony or similar. If it's a standard church/civil ceremony and then reception/evening thing then I definitely wouldn't say its too short.

I would wear a cardigan or jacket in the Church or ceremony place, and I would wear different colour shoes if I had some (possibly a brighter colour) and carry a matching bright clutch, but otherwise I think it looks good Smile

LoupGarou · 19/07/2017 18:25

Also, no offense OP but I think its just the way you're standing that makes dress 1 look like it doesn't fit, you look like you're standing at funny angle in the photo, rather than standing naturally iyswim.

goose1964 · 19/07/2017 18:26

Dress 1 is best but you need a bra under it, it could be smartened up with careful accessorising

LoupGarou · 19/07/2017 18:28

This was what I meant about adding brighter shoes, I would style dress 1 something like this....

First one. Cardi. Whip it off at the evening do to wow them all with your figure.

Job done

polyhymnia · 19/07/2017 23:14

Sorry, agree with other PPs. First one much too skimpy and length doesn't flatter your legs, second nice but eveningy, not at all wedding suitable. Third, just no.
As others have said, if you're prepared to spend at all - e.g. on a cardigan and strapless bra for the first dress - buy a new suitable dress in the sales. You're clearly slim enough to get away with less expensive high street clothes.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 20/07/2017 09:35

There are lots of dresses on 'Everything £5' could you really not stretch to that? I'm with everyone else I'm afraid. I'd say 1 at a push but only with a cardigan/jacket over the top, and a different bra. 2 is a bit OTT in my opinion, very lovely but not suitable for a wedding.

dontpokethebear · 20/07/2017 13:53

The other option would be to shorten #2 to knee length. That would actually look quite nice with a pair of metallic heels.
Do you have anyone that could do that? If you don't, I would be happy to do it for you. It would depend where you live or if you'd be happy to stick in the post. And time constraints of course.
