Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, Moroccan oil or something else for naturally grey, dry hair?

Have used Moroccan oil in the past and loved how soft it left my hair. The only downsides are the price and the fact that it's yellow which can have a de-greying effect on my colour.

I recently bought L'Oréal Extraordinary Oil in an attempt to find a more affordable alternative and while it smells amazing and is colourless, it does nothing for the texture of my hair. Nada.

Currently have Philip Kingsley Elasticizer on my hair for the first time ever. Found a sample from a beauty box aeons ago so figured it's worth a go.

My hair is grey, thick and a bit wavy with a tendency towards the witchy frizzy. Lots of flyaways and lots of short broken hairs along my parting.

Have tried pretty much every single deep conditoner/deep condition treatment on the market to no avail. And I hate coconut oil - it's a pure mess and did nothing for my hair.

Is there a magic product I'm missing?

You could be describing my hair and I must admit that I had the same problem with Moroccan oil. I've been using K-PAK Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil and found that it leaves my hair manageable, smoother, softer and without the staining. I have also found that silicone free shampoo and conditioner also helps with the frizz issues, that surprised me to be honest.

Cheers Era. I must admit I don't usually check the ingredients of shampoo/conditoner Blush. I use the Touch of Silver range a few times a week to enhance the colour and then have been using Yes to Coconuts shampoo and conditioner the rest of the time. Will check their ingredients.

Have tried the Joico stuff before and was impressed initially but, like every other conditioner, it seemed to stop working as well after a few washes.

The Elasticizer doesn't appear to have done much at all, despite having been on my head for over 2 hours so it's now off the list. Glad I didn't buy the full size.

This is my hair a few days ago. It's still growing out from extremely short and is nowhere near how I want it to look but if I could just improve the condition without having to resort to GHDs, it would look so much nicer as it grows out.

I have nothing useful to tell you, sorry, but wanted to say I love your hair! Mine is just starting to go grey and I hope it turns out like yours.

I know it's not much help but it's trial n error until you find what suits. The Elasticiser makes my hair so soft n with minimum blow drying it looks salon perfect. The Extraordinary Oil like you I found did nothing.
Am currently using this oil n just the tiniest amount makes my hair soft, smooth n flat.

Terf I found the Touch of Silver shampoos made my hair really crunchy and dry. I use Milk shake silver shine shampoo and Milk shake whipped cream. I use these about once a week to keep the silver clean and to get rid of any yellow. The rest of the time I use the silicone free shampoos.
You have great hair by the way, lovely colour.

TerfwithaNerf · 19/07/2017 06:45

Thanks again Era.

I know the drying effects of silverising shampoos so only use twice a week max. Have tried lots of more ££ ones and they just don't have the brightening effect on my colour that Touch of Silver does. The one in your link is just too expensive I'm afraid. I also really liked the effect of Lush Daddy-o but it was even worse for drying my hair out Sad.

Will see of I can find a mid range option.

bonfire that product looks great. Thank you.

Rinky Thank you Smile.

I'm in love with this one - it's much lighter in colour than morocan oil and seems to really sink it (it's lighter in viscosity too, mind you). The smell is incredible - I actually went looking for a perfume to match it!
