Been using the little tins of Vaseline for years but recently don't seem to be making any difference and my lips are still as dry after the Vaseline has worn off.

Recommend me some good balms/salves please.

Thanks guys. Will look into these. I have used carmex before but didn't like the tingly feeling. Does that vanilla one tingle?

I think Blistex relief cream or whatever it's called now (squeeze tube, red cap) is the best - that's always sorted out bad chapping for me. Lansinoh nipple cream is also great on lips, so I guess that's similar to lanolips?

Definitely not vaseline, it does nothing as a lip balm (except maybe make things worse).

keepingmymouthshut · 17/07/2017 23:30

Another vote for E.L.F lip exfoliator - I've stocked up on all flavours!

SesameSparkle · 18/07/2017 00:09

I got given some of this stuff as a gift, it's all natural beeswax, honey and almond oil based, it comes in a big pot that lasts for ages, and it's fucking awesome.

FinnegansCake · 18/07/2017 00:29

I bought the Yves Rocher Christmas lip balm back in November, use it just at bedtime, and for the first time in years I don't have dry skin on my lips. It's cheap as well. I shall definitely buy it again.

Timefortea99 · 18/07/2017 09:35

Carmex - pot or the unflavoured stick with SPF. Cheap as chips.

Or the Nuxe one mentioned - really good, bit spendier.

SapphireStrange · 18/07/2017 13:44

I like the Lush lime one. They do other (yummy) scents too, but this one sorted out not just my dry lips, but cracked corners of lips too, a couple of winters ago.

ajandjjmum · 18/07/2017 13:58

Elizabeth Arden 8-hour lip protectant stick. Comes in clear and different shades. Expensive - about £20 - but you can get packs of three for around £35 from most airports. I've been using it for a while!

OCSockOrphanage · 18/07/2017 14:06

Elemis lip balm, as handed out in BA business class flights. DH brought the goody bag home after an upgrade. It is the best stuff ever, but probably mega££. My sister swears by All about Lips (clinique, but says it's being discontinued).

RebelandaStunner · 18/07/2017 14:07

I use Nivea rose lip balm. It's cheap, I got the last one from pound land. It works for me. I like the colour too and it's not shiny.

NoNeedToArgue · 18/07/2017 14:12

I used Lansinoh while breastfeeding and thought it was amazing on cracked/ sore nips. When I used it on sore, dry lips though I had a reaction to it and it made them incredibly sore and
I ended up with a big blister (sexy)

So be careful! I guess lanolips would be better!

QueenofallIsee · 18/07/2017 14:14

L'Occitane - amazing and so rich.
Burts Bees - cheaper on Amazon than almost anywhere I have found

BlondeGinger · 18/07/2017 14:15

I love the Nuxe one too.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 18/07/2017 14:21

Blistex cream in the metal tube, blue & red writing. Better than anything, cheap or expensive.

Unicorn81 · 18/07/2017 19:20

Carmex original is the best imo

ElizabethAllen · 18/07/2017 21:26

The Creme de La Mer one is brilliant - but found this Dior one to be just as good and much cheaper.

I keep one of these Sticks in my bag/coat/car and they're really good too and cheap (3 sticks for under £5)

SapphireSeptember · 18/07/2017 22:12

I've always found Blistex lip balms to be good. Their triple butters one is fantastic, especially as I've been on a liquid lipstick binge recently so my lips need all the help they can get! I also like their happy lips mango flavour, it tastes lovely.

ExpatMrs · 18/07/2017 22:25

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser (pictured) or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream

Recommend a lip balm please
SimplyPut · 18/07/2017 22:35

E.O.S coconut (shaped like an egg) is great for first thing and before bed.
Burts bees are great in place of a lipstick.

Arealhumanbeing · 19/07/2017 01:56

Definitely Lanolips lemonade if you can stretch your budget.

Otherwise Nivea lip butter is very good. Comes in a little tin and is £2-£3 I think.

retainertrainer · 19/07/2017 12:51

Be aware that e.o.s is known for causing awful dry, cracked, bleeding lips.

I started using one and within 2 weeks my lip were horribly sore. The upper skin layer completely peeled off. After some googling I discovered that it was a common complaint.

misscph1973 · 19/07/2017 13:01

I make my own:

wellnessmama.com/7055/homemade-lip-chap-recipe/

It's surprisingly easy. I have been addicted to Elizabeth Ardens 8 Hour Cream for more than a decade and I get dry lips easily, but this homemade one is brilliant, at least as good as the 8 Hour cream.

MountainDweller · 19/07/2017 23:43

I second L'occitane in the white tube. Also recommend Hurraw coconut lip balm (available in lots of other flavours). Ordered online from naturissimo.com (free delivery!)

BagelGoesWalking · 20/07/2017 19:25

Pure Potions Lip Balm is lovely.
