Make-up virgin... almost.

Hello everyone,

Hoping for some guidance from knowledgeable people. As the title shows, I wear makeup so rarely that I'm practically a virgin at it. I just never felt I had the technique right, and then my skin went through a weird phase where makeup kinda flaked on my face and I ended up looking worse than before I started at all. But I've now sorted out the problem skin and have a reasonable quality blank canvas of a face to work with.

So, with my new found enthusiasm, about 6 weeks ago I trotted off to a Bare Minerals counter and threw myself at their mercy. Leaving there I was delighted with myself and my purchases and thought I'd manage the routine fine at home. But then life and unexpected illness got in the way and the lessons learned at the beginning counter were forgotten. It's only now that I've actually opened the bag of products. And I'm a bit stumped. I've bought primer, a "tinted hydrating gel cream" called "complexion rescue", a powder called original foundation and a bronzer and blusher. Thing is, I can only remember the lady using the cream, not the cream and foundation. But I know I definitely wouldn't have bought something she hadn't demonstrated on me. So maybe my memory is dodgy. But now I'm wondering if I'm supposed to use both, ie the cream followed by the foundation?? Am I big just doubling up then?

Please help, oh wise ones!

I would use the primer, then the complexion rescue, then the powder on top. Or just the primer and either the complexion rescue or the powder.

Generally, powders go on top of cream/liquid, not the other way around.

Then the bronzer over temples and cheeks, and a bit of blush on the cheeks. Or just the bronzer or blush on their own.

Primer first. Then the foundation cream. Then bronzer use is dependent on if you want to look bronzed. It can also be used to help define your features (if it's not shimmering and doesn't have red/orange tones). Temples and under cheek bones (from ears no further in than the edge of your eye. If you want to look sunkissed a very light dusting over your face. Blusher on the apples of your cheeks. Smile and put it on the round cheek bit.

The trick is not to slap it all on but a thin natural layer to enhance not mask.
