Shorts / Short skirts & bad legs (hair)... Advice please!

Advice needed from the more hirsute on here!

I have craps legs. I'm slim & tallish & shape of them is ok but my God they look shit if I get them out. They're just too hairy! I shave them but even then you can kind of tell they're not the same as most women's. Everyone else I see seems to have amazingly effortlessly smooth looking legs but then mine are just all spotty, bumpy, goose pimply and awful that I just can't bring myself to show any more than my calves in public. I have very pale skin which I don't mind too much (never going to fake tan or sun bathe so not much I can do about that) but my hair is reasonably dark and coarse.

Is there any way you can have pale skin, dark hair (lots) & still be able to have legs that look good? Not going to laser.

Please no comments about your legs can't be that hairy & there must be something wrong if they are (that always comes up on here as if people can't comprehend that some people have to shave thighs too... I can't comprehend not having to!)

If anyone can help me with this then we can move on to my should I do anything about my hairy arms question Grin

Can I ask why you don't want to laser? I'm not particularly hairy but had put up with terrible ingrown hairs for years. I got a Philips Lumea and within 6 months no longer had a problem. I now seem to have permanently removed over 80% of my body hair and barely need to shave or use the Lumea.

Hmm, I suppose I was thinking of going somewhere to have it done properly (assumed too expensive & just feel like I can't justify the money on something so vain!). I hadn't thought of getting something to do it myself at home. Is it expensive? Does anyone who is hairier have experience with this?

When you say laser do you mean the sort you go to a salon for or are you including home ipl machines? Because honestly with pale skin and dark hair you are the perfect subject for something like the Lumea. Like Blackgrouse I used it for a few months and now am virtually hair free and just use it every couple of months or so for a top up. If it's a pain issue then honestly it doesn't hurt, at the worst it can be slightly uncomfortable on bony areas but that's it.

Took too long to post! The intial outlay for a machine is probably around the £250 mark although if you hold fire and look around you can usually find good deals every few weeks.

I am another lumea fan here. I'm pale with dark hair - and I'm super hairy. I even have to shave my belly button (or I did pre lumea!) so that would be my vote too.

Once that side is covered, I also use leg make up - sally Hanson or rimmel. It gives me some colour but evens out all my imperfections and makes my legs look fab. I genuinely have plucked chicken legs usually, but these 2 things changed my attitude to getting my legs out!

Have you tried exfoliating with coffee grounds before shaving every time? Instant coffee mixed with a tiny smidge of water to masks a rough paste works too if you don't have a coffee maker. I use coffee grinds to exfoliate and they're brilliant.
