I have a halo! (of frizz)

Help me please - what styling product will sort me out?

I used to have good hair, but it's gone to shite Sad
It was thick, and mostly straight with a bit of wave, and it could be dried nicely.
Now it's greying fast, and falling out. I'm back on the old iron to hopefully make that a bit better, but I have been left with a halo of frizz. I'm not sure if it's broken off hair, or where the hair is growing back (hopefully?), but I have about 3 inches of frizz along my hairline, or on the top of my head. So whether my hair is down, or tied back, I have the frizz. It's worse than when I was post natal.

I'm not so good with hair products so don't know what will disguise it /glue up down. Useless so far have been serums incl frizz ease, smoothing cream, hairspray and mousse.

I sometimes use conditioner or hair spray it and then smooth down. Conditioner works better for me but I wash my hair every other day, think it could get to look greasy if your hair tends that way.

Thanks. I wash my hair every other day, but I suspect that it'd go quite greasy if I put conditioner on the roots. I'll try it though!

Try Aussie deep conditioning treatment. You need to put it on all over, including the roots. They need moisture! If you find you are not getting two days out if your wash by conditioning the roots, use a dry shampoo on the second day.

Hair oil is good. I'm using a superdrug one atm.

Loveache · 16/07/2017 17:24

Don't use hairspray as the alcohol in it dries hair and makes frizz worse. I glue mine down with a light touch of castor oil.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/07/2017 17:24

Ooh, another vote for conditioner - interesting! I think I'm so used to the old thing of 'apply conditioner to your ends only' that it never occurred to me to put it on the roots.

Hair oil? I've tried Moroccan oil and that was crap - is there a better one?

Castor oil hey?
I'm basically going to buy All The Things.

Castor oil is great for hair growth.
Also jojoba for softness and moisture, but not too much oiliness. Put on at night, and shampoo off in the morning.

I take vitamin d3, b vitamin complex and biotin. My hair is thicker, and grows faster.
I get them all from Amazon, and won't be without them. My nails also grow like a weed with the biotin.Smile

A friend of mine uses a tiny bit of hairspray sprayed on a (dedicated) toothbrush to smooth down frizzy tiny hairs. You may know this already, but if you're taking iron I was advised to take vitamin c with it to help absorption.

Brazilian blow dry.

Ultimate Blends balm in the round tub is fantastic. It's usually £4.99, but I think Boots are selling it for £3 at the moment. I leave it on my hair for about 5 minutes and then wash it off, and that usually does the trick.

You're meant to use it on the ends and mid sections, but when my frizz is really bad and sticking up everywhere, I apply it all over my hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. The frizz disappears, and I'm left with shiny, gorgeous scented hair. I usually use the honey one.

Leave on deep conditioner for 24 hours (it dries, you don't look too rough) then wash out. Bliss for a week.

I have the same problem and had no clue what to do. My hairdresser recommended oil - any hair oil she said, but make sure 1. it is oil rather than an oil based product and 2. it is absolutely not a serum.

After some trial and error what works for my bra length hair is about a half to one teaspoon of oil fingered through damp hair (including the top). Then either dry or leave to dry, style and add a few more drops to finish. I rarely use a brush apart from when styling. Next day I just add a few more drops oil to smooth again. HTH.

Hand cream also helps with frizz. Lightly coat your hands on hand cream (any kind) then kind of waft them over the surface of your hair. Don't rub it in deeply like a conditioner.
