How can I look more 'put-together' please?

Hi everyone,

Could I please ask you all for some advice on how I can look 'polished' and 'put together' please? (Inspired by another recent thread!)

To give some context, I'm blonde with very fair skin (and quite short - around 5 foot?), and in my mid-twenties.

In terms of people whose style I like, I really like things that Kim Murray (Andy Murray's wife) wears, as well as Kate Middleton and, randomly, Brigitte Macron and Queen Letizia of Spain.

I tried going through my wardrobe a couple of months ago to try and see if I could get a 'capsule wardrobe', but I'm just not sure what suits me Blush

Could you all give me a hand please? :)

Thanks everyone :)

Do you have the budget for a personal shopper to help you choose some good quality basics? They could be matched with simple jewellery. A good hairstyle is essential if you like to look like the ladies you listed. Glossy and shiny hair and good make up, maybe trying somewhere like Bobbi Brown for inspiration and a make up lesson?

Have a look at the colours you buy a lot of- check they really suit you- and start to work from those.

The women you mention are all about well cut, well made basics- nothing wild that will scare the horses/ minions/ voters. Smile Have you got a couple of decent coats or jackets? Think blazers, leather bikers (not too much metal or random padding) and a longer wool coat- probably 50s flare style (try Hell Bunny for ideas). Scarves will change the look day to day so have a selection- market stalls have been my main source.

Shoes- always well maintained. No matter what they are. Vans/ Superga or similar for easy wear, boots, sandals, heels for everything else. Make sure you can walk well in the heels! Pulling an amazing outfit together and then waddling around won't work.

my basic capsule is based on navy/ grey/ white with silver or red accents. My weekend staples are navy jeans, white or light grey v neck t-shirts (not cheap stretchy ones, my tummy doesn't stand up to scrutiny) Grin , grey or navy cardi or jumper (uniqlo do some great jumpers). At work I tend to wear dresses (much easier, no co-ordinating needed), but when in separates I go for a white/ cream top and grey or navy trousers. Currently, I love my navy with tiny white dots palazzo pants- teamed with wedge sandals.

In my case I didn't have the spare cash to just buy a new wardrobe, so I've built it up over time and spent time looking in charity or second hand shops and sales. I buy nothing that doesn't go with the colour scheme. Even down to holiday flip flops! I'm currently sitting in a tent in the middle of a field, but I know what ever I pull out of my bag will work together.

Sorry- massive essay! I'll be amazed if you got this far. This has been a project I loved doing as I felt it made life much easier for me. My biggest mistake was not throwing out old stuff as I got new ones. I had to do a massive de-junk about 6 months ago. I charity shopped about 4 bin bags!
