Where do you buy clothes for you 11 year old DS?

I need some inspiration for new places to shop for DS, who is almost 11. Most of his wardrobe at the moment seems to be Boden , Fat Face and Osh Kosh. He's had a bit of a growth spurt and he's in need of trousers and tops, but having looked at the new stuff from Boden this morning it seems to be too brightly coloured and babyish for DS now. Fat face never has much of a selection for boys and DS doesn't like anything with big brand names on it, which all the t-shirts seem to have.

Osh Kosh is great, but harder to get hold of, although I can get to one of their stores later in the year.

DS doesn't like jeans, nothing too babyish, no huge brand names. I want reasonable quality so they wash well and last.

Where do you shop for your DSs?

My 12yo is already 5'8 so I am struggling with kids brands. I've got her a lot from H&M and a few bits from New Look. She just likes shorts and t-shirts in this weather and that's about it. I've got her a few things from the adult section of TK Maxx

My ds just turned twelve and wears Nike and adidas mainly from jd sports or sports direct, mostly in men's sizes.

Your comment about wanting them to wash well and last is pointless unless you have have younger dc as he is likely to grow a foot and a half very quickly!

countrybump · 10/07/2017 11:12

Thanks - I haven't thought about men's sizes. I'll look at them.

Canterbury?

I shop in GAP for 13 year old DS. He's 5'5 and can now fit into a 'small' in some of the men's ranges.

Vertbaudet also go up to age 14 and whilst some of the designs have been vetoed by DS Grin it's nice quality and you can get some bargains in their sales!

There was a phase, for both my boys, around that age, where the only place I could find trousers long enough in the leg for their waist size was Next Online

NC4now · 10/07/2017 23:08

I've just discovered Abercrombie for my DS 11. We have a GAP outlet too, which often bears fruit. And Next.

thereinmadnesslies · 10/07/2017 23:11

XS superdry tshirts and hoodies

DilysMoon · 10/07/2017 23:12

H&M for jeans, tops etc.

VinIsGroot · 10/07/2017 23:13

Animal...wash so well and having gone through DS1 and DS2... My BFF'S boy is now wearing them too!

Temporaryanonymity · 10/07/2017 23:16

H&M although their sizing is weird. My 10 year old wears their 14/15 age and mens XS.

Other than that, sports direct....

I agree, H&M, particularly if you want more muted colours. I just bought ds six blue tops (it's ok, he only wants blue) and they're fairly skinny cut. They have long cut sleeves usually, which is good for him, so I assume he was just meant to be Scandinavian really.
We also use gap, boden (plain stuff only), sainsburys and John Lewis, but John Lewis you will probably struggle with now, as it only goes up to 12, and v v small cut.

PhilODox · 10/07/2017 23:35

DS doesn't wear jeans either, gap chinos are very good, they come in lots of colours, and still have adjustable waistbands. He also like boden skate trousers and tartan pull-ons.

JDSTER · 11/07/2017 09:17

My 9 year old doesn't like jeans either. We have quite a few casual bottoms from H&M. A few pairs of shorts from M&S and matalan

countrybump · 11/07/2017 11:02

Thanks everyone - I'm out in the sticks here but planning a trip to the 'big town' where there is an H&M, gap and superdry we can visit.

Yes Phil - John Lewis have been great in the past, particularly for nightwear and t-shirts, but they come up small.

I'll look up Animal and Abercrombie online too, and see what's in next online. He has had a couple of t-shirts from Next in the past which weren't too babyish nor to branded for his liking!

He's not style conscious, but he very much wants to 'fit in' and not stand out in any way, which I am sure is normal at this age. I'm happy for him to wear what he is most comfortable in.

My 12 year old likes H&M for basics,Hype for T shirts, hoodies and backpacks.Sports Direct is good for trendy trackie bottoms and trainers. My ds is growing out of things every 3 months at the moment so it's really not worth buying quality clothes.A small mans t shirt is fine on him now whereas only 3 months ago they looked ridiculously long on him.

LesLavandes · 12/07/2017 01:52

Abercrombie comes up very small. So if you are buying online, go up a size!

QueenofLouisiana · 12/07/2017 02:09

Uniqlo, Gap and H&M. However, he is very sporty so seems to live in hoodies and trackers. I spend more on swimming trunks than jeans tbh.
