Find me some eye makeup remover please!

I don't wear eye makeup much but when I do, I always wear waterproof mascara because I tend to fiddle with and rub my eyes a lot , and it's the only type that stays put. Obviously this means I need to use a special eye makeup remover, but try as I might I can't find one that a) takes the mascara off and b) doesn't aggravate my eyes for the next 2 days.

Don't mind paying a bit if it works properly.

I've tried Clinique, Shu Uemura, Nuxe, Caudalie recently - all make my eyes stream.

Any suggestions?

I like nivea or garnier bi-phase remover.

willymcwill · 09/07/2017 12:34

I swear by the Boots No7 eye make up remover, it's better than all of the expensive ones that I've tried!

Bleurghghghgh · 09/07/2017 12:38

Nothing works better on waterproof makeup than olive oil. Rub it on dry, wipe away with a warm damp flannel and then remove the rest

Laquila · 09/07/2017 12:42

I am a big fan of th cheapo Boots own-bran fragrance-free eye make-up remover in the blue bottle - it's about £1.50 and its gentle but effective.

My mum, who is v fussy, swore by the L'Oreal gentle one for years:

She's now wedded to the Body Shop camomile one.

I've got really sensitive eyes too, and this thing is brilliant: www.w7cosmetics.co.uk/products/its-magic-makeup-remover-cloth

Stop rubbing your eyes.
Waterproof mascara is only waterproof. It isn't rub proof - it tends to flake.
I would use olive/coconut/almond oil then gentle eye remover or water.
I no longer use mascara as Ii don't like the feel of it on my eyelashes.

Big money - La Prairie. I had a sample and it was gorgeous to use. Very efficient and quick, not stingy or smudgey.

Expensive but not as mad as above - Lancome. Also very nice to use, but no sting or smudge.

Cheap and just as effective - Nivea bi-phase. Quick, efficient, no sting. A bit smeary on the eyes of you don't use toner to wipe it off afterwards, but it does the job for £3.50ish.

I have sensitive eyes and these 3 have all worked well for me...

McDougal · 09/07/2017 12:53

Not an eye make up remover specifically but the Body Shop's camomile cleansing butter shifts anything but is really gentle.

Timmytoo · 09/07/2017 12:56

Nothing beats Baby Oil in my opinion. It's the best.

LittleCandle · 09/07/2017 12:59

I like the Simple ones. There micellar water one is nice, and they also have one that is oil based which I am currently using. The best ever one I had was a Lancome one years and years ago. It was blue and you had to shake it gently to mix it. It even removed stage make up with about 2 drops.

Baby wipes do the job as well.

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 09/07/2017 13:02

I've tried Lancome, did remove the makeup but next morning I still had red eyes.

I have the Body Shop cleansing balm which I use as a first cleanse, but didn't think it would remove waterproof. I shall give it a go!

Mike I don't have a problem with the makeup - no matter how much I rub my eyes it doesn't irritate them and I don't find it flakes. The thing that's irritating them is the remover. I don't want to use normal mascara because I also tend to get hot very easily and I don't want it running down my face!

Boots no7, the blue one. The only one I can use to remove all my eye make up. £8.50 but I Stock up when they give out those £5 off skincare vouchers.

MyheartbelongstoG · 09/07/2017 13:36

Hair conditioner.

It melts away.

Or aqueous cream.

HoneyDragon · 09/07/2017 13:42

Castor oil. Gently rub and wipe off.Added bonuses longer and darker lashes.

bingohandjob · 09/07/2017 15:28

I've got very sensitive, very pale skin and react to lots of skin products - Eve Lom Cleanser is my Holy Grail product. I've tried alternative cleansing balms, none are a patch on EL to remove EVERYTHING, waterproof mascara included, with one product. Tiny blob, warm up on fingertips, slather on (little goes a long way) and I use a dipped in hot water proper flannel to take it all off.., rinse, repeat..My skin feels and looks great. Even forget to put moisturiser on sometimes afterwards as I don't get a tight feeling from it. It is expensive but a big pot lasts me all year (I stock up in the Christmas sale).

Time40 · 09/07/2017 15:37

Baby oil. It works better than anything else I've ever tried.

LalalalaaaCantHearYou · 09/07/2017 15:40

Def try the body shop - currently 40% off

Or the garnier oil in micellar though it is highly fragranced

ShmooBooMoo · 09/07/2017 15:45

If you are only bothered by the remover, try a tubing mascara. Avoid Blinc, though. I think .
There are a few...
www.harrods.com/en-gb/sensai/38c-mascara-p000000000001827009?bcid=1467976330378&colour=black

I think Estee Lauder and Clinique do one, so does Kevin Aucoin. There are more. They come off with warm water.

DerelictWreck · 09/07/2017 15:48

Baby wipes!

Think about - if they're sensitive enough for a newborn's skin, they'll probably suit yours!

BambooWhoosh · 09/07/2017 16:28

I use Simple Kind To Eyes Nourishing Eye Make-Up Remover Cream £ 3.80
Boots

I tried the clear version, but it didn't remove waterproof eyeliner effectively. The cream one was better. Says it removes waterproof mascara, but I haven't tested it.

Don't baby wipes have something in them for nappy rash?

Bleurghghghgh · 09/07/2017 16:50

BS cham works as well as olive oil. Try that first

polkadotdelight · 09/07/2017 16:52

Avene. I tried baby oil etc but always ended up with a film of it in my eyes.

mintmagnummm · 09/07/2017 16:57

The only thing I can use on my very sensitive eyes is bioderma micellar water (pink lid)

Thinkingofausername1 · 09/07/2017 18:49

Elemis has been good on my sensitive eyes
