I don't think it's dated, although think it would be better without the belt. Maybe a bit work-ish though?

TheLionQueen1 · 08/07/2017 18:59

I think it looks lovely as is fine for wedding reception! I like it with the belt. What colour shoes though, black shoes as well could make it a bit work like!

cushioncovers · 08/07/2017 19:00

Not dated but reminds me of an outfit you might wear to work. Not a wedding type outfit.

Anycakeisgoodcake · 08/07/2017 19:01

I'm not keen on black for weddings, it's a lovely dress and looks stunning on you though.

Wishfulmakeupping · 08/07/2017 19:01

I've got some beautiful dune gold heels and accessorise clutch bag that's gold with lots of glitzy bits -both nicer than they sound!

I think that's perfect then wth gold accessories. Black is absolutely fine for evening receptions at weddings, wouldn't necessarily for the day but definitely evening. Loads of evening guests wore black to mine!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 08/07/2017 19:12

It's absolutely wholly inappropriate to wear black to a wedding.

Birdsbeesandtrees · 08/07/2017 19:17

One of my friends got married in black wedding gown. Didn't seem to bother her.

Depends on the wedding.

fluffiphlox · 08/07/2017 19:18

Work or funeral. Don't think it's wedding-y at all.

PNGirl · 08/07/2017 19:20

My bridesmaids wore black! If it's the reception as in evening do it's fine but not 100% sold for a wedding ceremony/breakfast.

Birdsbeesandtrees · 08/07/2017 19:22

Actually yes I've also worn black as a bridesmaid.

ConstanceCraving · 08/07/2017 19:26

Can we see it jazzed up with your bling? Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 08/07/2017 19:27

Wearing black as a bride or bridesmaid is a different matter, because that's the brides choice.

Wearing black as a guest is rude and inappropriate.

A few gold accessories will not fix that.

ConstanceCraving · 08/07/2017 19:28

It's different when it's for the wedding reception.

Black with gold/colour is fine.

Scaverin · 08/07/2017 19:31

Wearing black as a guest is rude and inappropriate.

Only in your opinion. I can't remember the last time I was at a wedding when there weren't a few guests in black. The only person who'd have a problem with black would be Great Aunt Maud.

BastardGoDarkly · 08/07/2017 19:32

Its evening only What , I can't see any pearl clutching going on.

Hopefully the bling will lift it op, as it does look a bit workey.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 08/07/2017 19:34

It's not pearl clutching; its etiquette.

Thankfully nobody was so rude at my wedding.

Scaverin · 08/07/2017 19:35

Untwist your knickers.

ConstanceCraving · 08/07/2017 19:37

I think the black rule is less strict for a night do. Especially if the wearer adds colour in the shape of shoes, belt, bag.

I bet the bride would rather black than white Wink

RJnomore1 · 08/07/2017 19:37

I love that dress

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 08/07/2017 19:38

I've worn black (with black accessories) to about 10 weddings. I like black!

I think it's nice for just evening reception OP

TheRattleBag · 08/07/2017 19:38

Rude and inappropriate to wear black to a wedding? In 2017? Even the Daily Telegraph only says don't wear head to toe black (which OP isn't intending anyway!)

Birdsbeesandtrees · 08/07/2017 19:39

It's etiquette

Snort. Ok then. We don't all subscribe to the 1950's you know.
