cost of maintaining a nice cropped and coloured hair do

So I'm currently growing out long term henna in my mid length hair. Going grey and just fed up of doing the roots every couple of weeks.
I'm going to see what it looks like in its natural state, but am also considering the middle aged short and properly coloured at a salon route.

As I'm on a small budget, and I've never had to spend money on hair, lots of natural curls look good with a cut every few months, what does it cost on a regular basis to keep this up? I'm in Central London.

Cut £50

Cut + colour £100

I get a cut every seven weeks and a cut and colour a couple of times a year. This is stretching it out a bit though, if I was a bit more senior at work I would get a cut every five or six weeks.

Let me know if you need a recommendation for a hairdresser, 30% off the first appointment. He's incredible but gets booked up.

Thanks for that quick reply
colouring only a twice a year doesn't sound much though I might need more. I will adjust my budget and cut down on something, probably a good thing I fritter money away easily.

When my hair was in a pixie crop it needed cut every five weeks or it started to look really untidy.

Can't advise on the cut but I think realistically you'd need colour more often unless you're ok with roots showing. Your hair grows constantly so new roots appear very quickly! I have a lot of grey in dark hair so get roots coloured every 6-8 weeks. In between I use L'Oreal Magic Retouch

I make sure I gat a good cut. The last thing I want as a mature woman (ahem) is an old lady hair cut. So , I pay good money for a good cut every 6 weeks. It's just shy of being a pixie. I get it coloured at the same time, if I didn't I'd have roots showing although I was a natural blonde and I have a colour not far from that.
Actually, sometimes I have a block colour and some times I have highlights. I like to play about a bit and I don;t have the same colour all the time, just the same range of blonde.

It costs me about £120-£130

Thanks everyone.
i agree hecallsmebunny on frequency of colour, my roots are very white at the front. i am hoping the grey will look ok and I will spend money on a really good cut.
will look at the touch up product

Yeah I should have been clearer. I have semi-permanent gloss colour when I fancy it. It washes out over time so I don't really get roots.

yy a pixie crop needs five weekly cutting, mine is not quite that short and I just let it be untidy in the last weeks or so between cuts.

Glad I don't live in London! I have a pixie cut and coloured red/violet every 5 weeks £50 . Great local hairdresser. I'm 46 and still want to look as young as I feel! Move to Ireland!
